DIY Disney Drinkin’: EPCOT’s Frozen Limoncello Margarita Recipe

Disney Margarita

Fellow Disniacswe are always planning our next magical trip to the EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival. And here’s a little something to help you get started.

Food and beverage menus at the festival change tend to change year after year, but there are a few favorites Disney fans love that survive the test of time and become staples of their host pavilion or pop-up stand.

These drinks include Canada’s ice wine, Mexico’s tequila, Japan’s Sake and Plum Wine, and Italy’s Frozen Limoncello Margarita.

The Frozen Limoncello Margarita is one of my favorite drinks found at EPCOT, so, of course, I learned how to make it. And that is what I will be showing you how to make in this edition of DIY Disney Drinkin’.

Let’s begin:

Frozen Limoncello Margarita Recipe

The Frozen Limoncello Margarita requires four ingredients: Lime juice, Tequila, Triple Sec, and Limoncello.

“Wait, what’s limoncello?”

I’m glad you asked. Limoncello (pronounced “lemon-chello” or “LEEmon-chEHllo” with an Italian accent if you want to be pretentious about it) is an Italian lemon liqueur. It is rather syrupy, sugary drink that is meant to be served cold as a dessert and sits usually between 45-65 proof (22.5% – 32.5% alc.). And, like all other forms of alcohol, it can be very cheap or very expensive.

99% of the time, limoncello is meant to be a sipping drink served straight in a small glass (shot glass, port glass, etc.). It is a very classy way to end any night. But on rare occasions such as today, it can be used to take well-known cocktails to a whole new level you never knew existed.

Capeesh? Good. Moving on.

There is no specific brand needed for this drink. I used the brands pictured here simply because they were the ones I had at the house, and it worked out for me (hence my ancient blender). Silver tequila will, obviously, give you a lighter yellow color than the gold I use, but if you follow my measurements, you hardly notice a difference. I also used sugar-free triple sec, and that I will recommend you try.

Anyway, a single serving of a frozen limoncello margarita consists of the following:

  • 1/3 oz. of Lime Juice
  • 2/3 oz. of Triple Sec
  • 2/3 oz. of Limoncello
  • 2/3 oz. of Tequila

Maintain those proportions as you make a larger batch. The blender you see in my pictures serves 6 cups (the measurement not actual glasses), and it fit eight servings with ice. You do the math on that one.

You can either shake it over ice or blitz it in a blender. It tastes great either way. But the drink at EPCOT is served frozen, blitzed in a blender.

I would also like to clarify that this is not an official Disney recipe. I recreated this drink on my own after re-reading the ingredients in past Food & Wine menus and my own trial and error.

But still, please enjoy! Drink responsibly, and never drink and drive!
