Indiana Jones is rumored to close soon to make way for the Star Wars area expansion inside Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Another change expected is the counter service restaurant located between Indiana Jones and Star Tours to be redesigned into a Star Wars themed eatery. We will have to wait for Disney to make some official announcements of their plans to be announced sometime in 2015. Pizza Planet is currently located on the other side of Star Tours and is expected to move to Pixar Place where it really belongs. What else may be shut down or moved to make way for a larger Star Wars land? Unfortunately Indiana Jones is one of the last great guest participation attractions that will be cut. (Animation Academy, Monsters Inc., Laugh Floor, Turtle Talk with Crush, Flights of Wonder remain.)
Journey into Imagination with Figment is an attraction that was slated to close January 2014, however, as a result of being put on the FastPass+ list it has received more attention by park guests. There was little chance you had to wait to experience the attraction. Disney wanted to remove Figment, the purple dragon, from the Journey into Imagination attraction formerly sponsored by Kodak. There was quite an uproar by Figment fans and the dragon stayed. With Disney only interested in working on the new “Frozen” ride in Norway and the expansion of Soarin’ so don’t look for anything else to happen in Epcot for a while. It is especially bad because this pavilion is so interesting outside, and it is passed by almost every guest in Epcot.
Beauty and the Beast Live: This attraction has been rumored to leave for some time. For a while it was expected to be replaced with Tangled and more recently a Frozen show. It will take several months, or a couple of years, for the Frozen-themed ride to open in Epcot, so this would be a good place to have a Frozen show, at least until a new story is permitted to at last replace the Frozen frenzy. I am a big fan of the Beauty and the Beast Live Show, but I am not against another well-produced show taking over.
Ellen’s Universe of Energy: The Ellen Audio-Animatronic disappeared, along with a snakelike creature AA at the same time and they have not come back to the attraction. This is not a bad thing as it was the most disappointing AA seen in the parks. The attraction is in disrepair and has lacked any attention for so long, it is time to do a complete overhaul. Many guests don’t even realize it is there. The attraction is too long at 45 minutes, please Disney make a shorter experience.
Are there some Disney attractions that you think should be retired?
