Members of the uber-talented cast of Disney’s Academy Award-winning animated film, Encanto, took the stage today during the opening ceremony of the long-awaited 2022 D23 Expo at the Anaheim Convention Center in California.
We are live today for the first of three exciting, reveals-packed days at the D23 Expo in Anaheim, and we were thrilled when host Tamron Hall announced a special “surprise” for the audience seated in Hall D23 at the conclusion of the Disney Legends Ceremony, which honored such actors and actresses as Josh Gad, Idina Menzel, Jonathan Groff, Kristen Bell, and the late Chadwick Boseman.
The surprise was an unannounced performance by the cast of Disney’s Encanto (2021), who took the stage to perform the most popular song from the animated feature, “We Don’t Talk About Bruno,” but alas, there was no sign of Lin Manuel Miranda.
The performance followed the ceremony held to honor the Disney Legends Class of 2022, which evoked laughter, tears, and shrieks of joy from the audience.
Recently, D23 released the names of many of the members of the 2022 class of Disney Legends, which included actors and actresses who lent their voices to Disney’s Frozen and Frozen 2, as well as Patrick Dempsey, Anthony Anderson, and legendary Disney Imagineers.
Encanto is Disney’s 60th animated feature and tells the story of the amazing Family Madrigal, who lives together in the beautiful mountains of Colombia. Each member of the family has a special gift, talent, ability, or magical power–all except for Mirabel Madrigal, who some of the family see as simply not special, but there’s more to Mirabel than meets the eye, as she and her family soon discover!
Encanto is available for streaming now on the Disney+ streaming platform.
And stay with us for all the exciting news from the D23 Expo, as we are here in Anaheim, California, for all the fun, excitement, magic, and more!
