8 Reasons Why Walt Disney World Resorts Are Awesome

One debate that rages on is where to stay on a Walt Disney World vacation. The main question is whether someone should stay on property or off. While there are some advantages to staying off property, there are plenty of reasons why you should consider booking a room at a Disney resort. Here are some reasons why the resorts are awesome.

8) Convenience

Staying at a Walt Disney World resort hotel is convenient. There is transportation available to wherever you want to go on Disney property. If you do decide to drive, you won’t have to pay for parking at the parks. With your MagicBand you won’t have to worry about misplacing your room key. If you stay on property it’s not difficult to take a break in the middle of the day and return to your room for a nap. The Disney resorts are convenient.

7) Benefits

Walt Disney World offers some great perks for staying on property. If you fly they will pick you up at the airport so that you won’t have to rent a car. Extra Magic Hours allow you to hit a park when it is closed to the general public. When staying on property you can make your FastPass+ reservations 60 days in advance instead of 30. That extra time really helps when it comes to some of the hard to get FP+ reservations. There are other benefits as well. With the extras, Disney makes the idea of staying on property hard to resist.

6) Relaxation

You need to find some time to relax during your vacation. At the Walt Disney World resorts, you can do just that. Whether you spend an afternoon lounging by the pool, or you decide to book a spa day, you can rest and unwind for a little while at a Disney resort.

5) Fine Dining

Some of the best restaurants that you will ever dine in are located in the Walt Disney World resorts. Victoria & Albert’s offers AAA Five Star dining. Jiko – The Cooking Place will give you a taste of Africa and a meal that you will never forget. Enjoy Afternoon Tea with a loved one, or if you’re looking for something more casual try Beaches & Cream. Bring your appetite if you plan to order the Kitchen Sink! Even the food courts go above and beyond normal hotel dining. The resort restaurants all add to the Disney magic.

4) Views

Not every room at Walt Disney World has exemplary views. There are rooms that overlook parking lots, just like at any other hotel. But if you’re lucky (and willing to pay extra) you could end up with the best view ever. Stay at a Magic Kingdom Resort and you might end up with an incredible view of Happily Ever After. There are also rooms with views of Epcot fireworks from the Epcot Resort hotels. Disney’s Riviera Resort has views of both Epcot and Hollywood Studios fireworks. There are rooms that overlook the beautiful resort gardens, or maybe you’ll end up with a lake view. If the view is important to you, it’s not a bad idea to book your room by calling Disney directly. That way, you can talk to an operator about your options.

3) Service

You will find exceptional service at all of the Walt Disney World resort hotels. From the staff at the front desk to the housekeeper who leaves the towel animals, everyone is willing to go above and beyond. Even the Cast Members who work in the Value Resorts take pride in their jobs, the quality of the service won’t change for a less expensive room. Your room will be spotless, the halls will be clean, and if there is a problem someone will try to fix it right away. The hotel Cast Members alone make the Walt Disney World resorts awesome.

2) Pools

Pack your bathing suit! The pools are heated in the cooler weather, making it possible to swim year round. And you are going to want to swim. The resorts have pools that match the themes of the resorts. Many of them have water slides, there are play areas for the little ones, and you might even find a lazy river. There are whirlpools to help you relax, and quiet pools if you feel like a swim without the kids around. Just like each resort is different, each pool is different. The one thing that they all have in common is that they are all a lot of fun. You need to be staying at a resort in order to use its pool. Pool hopping is not allowed.

1) Themes

All of the Walt Disney World resorts are themed, down to the smallest detail. Each complex is unique. If you visit often you will be able to feel like you’re on a totally different vacation each time. With some themes you’ll step back in time, with others you’ll travel to a different state or even country. You’ll find everything from a recreation of Old Faithful to an African Savanna…complete with over 200 freely roaming animals. The themes of the resorts are so incredible that many guests (and locals) will take an entire day to just explore and see what they have to offer.

About PaulaK

I grew up in Western Massachusetts. When I was nine my family went to Disneyland and I was hooked. I grew up, attended New England College in Henniker, NH and eventually moved to Virginia. I worked as a disc jockey, married and became a full time mom when our daughter was born. Fast forward several years. In 2010 we moved to Central Florida and my Disney obsession grew. I now work as a freelance writer and spend my spare time in the parks. Under the name Paula Brown I penned the novels Dream Wanderers and The Coffee Cruiser. I also am a co-author of Dining at Walt Disney World: The Definitive Guide. I'm obsessed with Star Wars, so this is a good time to live in Central Florida. I've been a vegetarian for well over a decade, a choice that my daughter eventually made as well. While my husband still hasn't joined us fully he has given up most meats except for seafood. I was relieved to find that vegetarian dining is not difficult at Walt Disney World.
