Don’t Miss These 7 Amazing Disney Snacks

Snacking is part of any Walt Disney World vacation. A day in a park will take a lot out of you, and you’ll need a quick treat as a pick-me-up from time to time. You can bring snacks into the parks with you, but there are also some great choices that you can purchase. Here are seven amazing snacks that you’ll want to try at some point on your vacation. I left turkey legs off of this list because they’re not for everyone, especially as a snack.

7) Fresh Fruit

In some ways fresh fruit is the perfect snack because it will satisfy your thirst as well as your hunger. All four parks have places where you can buy it. Selections might change seasonally, but you can usually find cut watermelon, grapes, apples, bananas, and oranges. If you snack on fresh fruit you’ll have the added benefit of knowing that your snack was healthy as well as delicious.

6) Ice Cream and Dole Whip

Whatever type of frozen treat you’re looking for, you’ll be able to find it at Walt Disney World. There are plenty of places where you can order soft serve or hand dipped cones. Want a sundae? You can find a huge variety of those as well. You can order anything from The Golden Gate Banana Split to The Kitchen Sink. Stop by World Showcase, where you can try different types of ice cream from around the world. Of course a list like this wouldn’t be complete without mentioning Dole Whip. It’s a frozen pineapple creation that is refreshing on hot days. When you need to cool off and satisfy your sweet tooth, ice cream is the ultimate snack.

5) Pastries and Baked Goods

Whether you want a sweet afternoon snack or you’re looking for breakfast in a hurry, you’ll want to take a peek at some of the pastries that the Walt Disney World bakeries have to offer. You’ll find more than your run of the mill doughnuts and bear claws. You can order cheesecake brownies, turnovers, eclairs, chocolate chip brioche, and so much more. Make sure you stop by Gaston’s Tavern in New Fantasyland and try a Warm Cinnamon Roll! Don’t let a restrictive diet stop you from enjoying a sweet snack. Most of the items at Erin McKenna’s Bakery NYC in Disney Springs are kosher, vegan, and gluten free. They taste so good that you won’t notice the difference.

4) Cupcakes

Yes, cupcakes are baked goods, but they are so special at Walt Disney World that they get their own category on this list. The pastry chefs seem to have a behind the scenes competition for making the most creative cupcakes, and you’re the winner! Just a few of the choices are Caramel Corn Cupcake, Peanut Butter and Chocolate Cupcake, Lemon Meringue Cupcake, Zebra Cupcake, and The King Cupcake. You need to try at least one cupcake on your Disney vacation, but be warned; it will make you want to try another.

3) Create-Your-Own Snack

For a snack that is customized the way that you want it, head to Goofy’s Candy Company at Disney Springs. You will be able to then create your own snack. You’ll start with a base such as an apple, pretzel rods, or crispy marshmallow treat. You’ll then pick a dip, a topping, and a drizzle. You’ll be able to watch as your creation is made. It’s a lot of fun, and it tastes great as well.

2) Mickey Pretzels

Pretzels are a theme park staple, but somehow they taste even better when they are shaped like the world’s most famous mouse. Mickey Pretzels are now available all over Walt Disney World property, you no longer need to search to find one. You can buy a dip to go along with your snack if you’d like. Many pretzel stands also sell sweet cream cheese pretzels or jalapeno cheese pretzels, but they’re not shaped like Mickey. For a delicious “twist” on the pretzel, try the Sweet Pretzel with Chocolate or Almonds at Epcot’s Kringla Bakeri Og Kafe. For more tasty pretzel choices, stop by Wetzel’s Pretzels at Disney Springs. Again, they’re not shaped like Mickey, but he won’t mind.

1) Mickey’s Premium Ice Cream Bars

Even though this list has already mentioned ice cream, Mickey’s Premium Ice Cream Bars are in a snack class by themselves. They are arguably the most popular of all Disney snacks. Mickey Bars prove that a snack doesn’t have to be complicated in order to work. The bars are simply vanilla ice cream, covered with chocolate. They are shaped like Mickey and served on a stick. You’ll easily burn off the 330 calories while walking around the park. It’s estimated that 3.3 million of these treats are sold at Walt Disney World each year. You need to enjoy a Mickey Bar at least once on your vacation. You might end up wanting one each day.

About PaulaK

I grew up in Western Massachusetts. When I was nine my family went to Disneyland and I was hooked. I grew up, attended New England College in Henniker, NH and eventually moved to Virginia. I worked as a disc jockey, married and became a full time mom when our daughter was born. Fast forward several years. In 2010 we moved to Central Florida and my Disney obsession grew. I now work as a freelance writer and spend my spare time in the parks. Under the name Paula Brown I penned the novels Dream Wanderers and The Coffee Cruiser. I also am a co-author of Dining at Walt Disney World: The Definitive Guide. I'm obsessed with Star Wars, so this is a good time to live in Central Florida. I've been a vegetarian for well over a decade, a choice that my daughter eventually made as well. While my husband still hasn't joined us fully he has given up most meats except for seafood. I was relieved to find that vegetarian dining is not difficult at Walt Disney World.
