Summer has officially arrived in the Smoky Mountains, and guests heading to Dollywood’s resort hotels this month will soon encounter a significant change to how they pay for purchases during their stay.

While visitors continue enjoying Dollywood’s attractions, entertainment, and seasonal offerings, a new operational update is set to take effect across the destination’s resort portfolio. Starting June 11, both Dollywood’s DreamMore Resort and Spa and Dollywood’s HeartSong Lodge & Resort will stop accepting cash payments, becoming fully cashless properties.
The change follows a similar move already implemented at Dollywood’s Splash Country water park when the 2026 season began in May. Now, the payment policy is expanding to include the company’s two on-site resort hotels.
Guests staying at either resort have traditionally been able to use cash for purchases at restaurants, retail locations, and other resort facilities. Beginning June 11, however, payments will only be accepted through electronic methods, including credit cards, debit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and other mobile payment options.

For many visitors, the update represents one of the largest operational adjustments made at the resorts in recent memory.
Since opening in 2015, DreamMore Resort has served as one of Dollywood’s premier lodging destinations. The hotel features more than 300 guest rooms and offers perks including complimentary transportation to the parks, early access opportunities, dining experiences, and amenities geared toward families.
HeartSong Lodge & Resort joined the lineup much more recently. Opening in 2023, the resort expanded the company’s accommodation offerings and quickly became a favorite among guests looking for a Smoky Mountain-inspired retreat near the parks.

Notably, the cashless policy currently applies only to the resorts. Guests visiting Dollywood’s theme park itself can still use cash at the time of writing, creating a difference between the resort hotels and the park’s day-to-day operations.
To help guests adjust, Dollywood has installed cash-to-card kiosks at impacted locations. Visitors who arrive with cash can convert it into prepaid cards that can be used throughout the resorts and at other locations that accept major card payments. According to Dollywood, there are no additional fees associated with the service.
The decision reflects a broader trend across the entertainment and hospitality industries, where many operators have shifted toward cashless systems. Advocates often cite faster checkout times, shorter waits, greater efficiency, and less cash handling for employees as key advantages.

Those benefits could become especially noticeable during the busy summer travel season, when resort restaurants and retail locations experience increased demand from vacationers.
Guests with reservations at DreamMore Resort or HeartSong Lodge later this month may want to plan accordingly before arriving. Travelers who typically rely on cash should consider bringing an alternative payment option or using one of the available conversion kiosks.
As June gets underway, Dollywood’s biggest resort update is not tied to a new ride, show, or festival. Instead, it will be found at hotel front desks, dining locations, and gift shops, where cash payments are about to disappear from the guest experience.
