Do Adults Really Get Less Candy at Disney? One Guest Sparks Debate…

Disneyland’s Oogie Boogie Bash has quickly become one of the most anticipated Halloween events for fans of all ages. But some adult guests have been quietly raising a question: are they receiving less candy than the kids?

Halloween Candy: It’s Not Just for Kids

One attendee shared their observations on a Disney fan forum, describing a pattern they and their spouse noticed while trick-or-treating with their children. “Multiple times throughout the night our kids would go up and get a handful of candy, we would then immediately follow and some cast members would drop some back in their bin until there were two pieces in their hands and give us that,” the post read.

The experience became even more noticeable during one particular exchange. “At one point after giving our son a handful the cast member looked at my husband, dropped some candy back in his bin, and said ‘and only two for you!’ which was odd because we would never say anything about it but it definitely made us suspect it more,” the guest recalled.

While acknowledging that this may seem like a minor issue, the poster also raised a broader concern about adult attendees without children. “I actually care more for adults who go without kids, they pay the same insane price as we did and should get the same amount of candy… it costs Disney basically nothing to hand out,” they explained.

Who Ends Up Winning?

The post has prompted curiosity among other guests about whether there’s official guidance for cast members on candy distribution. “Guess I’m just wondering if anyone else has noticed this or knows of some kind of guidance given to the cast members on how much to hand out to a given person,” the guest added.

Disney has not issued any comment regarding the alleged discrepancies in candy distribution. Anecdotal reports from other attendees suggest that the experience may vary based on the location within the park, cast member discretion, and crowd size during the event.

Despite the questions, there’s still plenty of candy to be had for all visitors, and the Halloween fun continues—though some adults may leave wondering if their haul should have been a little bigger.
