Big news has arrived for Disney’s most iconic transportation option.
When you picture the Disney Parks in your mind, images of incredible rides, magical foods and drinks, and once-in-a-lifetime character interactions probably come to mind. There are so many elements of Disney Parks that have become iconic symbols for Disney, including the Park castles, lands, stores, and attractions. One of the most famous and memorable is the Disney Monorail.
A Disney Landmark Takes a Hiatus
The Disney Monorail is an iconic transportation system that provides Guests with a unique way to explore Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort. With its sleek design and futuristic aesthetic, the monorail has become synonymous with the magic of Disney.
At Disneyland Resort, the Monorail system made its big debut on June 14, 1957. Not only was the monorail an effective way for Disney to transport Guests, but it also served as an attraction in its own right. Guests can hop on board and enjoy a relaxing scenic ride, which helps keep Guests entertained and the magic of Disney alive. Since it has been around for so long, this ride does need to have maintenance done on it regularly.
Upcoming Maintenance Gets an Ending Date
This summer, it was announced that the Disneyland Monorail was going to be getting a refurbishment. This is an excellent thing for securing the longevity of the monorail, but fans are also upset that it may be unavailable during their vacation. It was announced that the monorail would be closing on July 5, 2023, but at the time, no reopening date had been announced.

Thankfully, Disneyland Resort has finally announced that the Monorail will be opening back up again on August 31. While this is a bummer for the summer crowds, this service is necessary and will mean the monorail can transport Guests for many more years to come.
