Disney’s newest live-action remake, The Little Mermaid (2023), recently dove into theaters on May 26. Since then, the film has caused some mixed reviews.
Disney fans are enjoying the new film, other Disney fans prefer the original, and some viewers are attempting to skew the reviews by spamming 1-star reviews due to Princess Ariel’s new appearance.
But even racist reviewers couldn’t stop The Little Mermaid from breaking a new record for Walt Disney Studios…
According to a recent report by ScreenRant, The Little Mermaid has become the best of Disney’s live-action remakes. On the Rotten Tomatoes website, we can see that this live-action remake currently has an audience score of 95%, effectively blowing all of Disney’s other live-action remakes out of the water.
That being said, critics’ reviews on Rotten Tomatoes have only given the film a measly 68%, a far cry from the 95% audiences are giving it. But if you want to know how good the live-action remake is, there’s only one way to find out!
The Little Mermaid is currently available to watch in theaters. At this time, we don’t know when the live-action remake will debut on Disney Plus, so be sure to swim to theaters to see it soon.
The Little Mermaid cast consists of Halle Bailey as the beautiful Princess Ariel, Jonah Hauer-King as the dashing Prince Eric, Melissa McCarthy as the evil Sea Witch Ursula, Javier Bardem as King Triton, Daveed Diggs as Sebastian, and Awkwafina as Scuttle.
