Disney World Gives Hollywood Studios Theme Park a Surprise Facelift

Nobody told guests it was coming, but when they showed up at Disney’s Hollywood Studios on Thursday morning, the entrance looked a whole lot better than it did the night before.

Overnight, Walt Disney World Resort crews repainted the pavement surrounding the ticket booths at the entrance to Disney’s Hollywood Studios a rich, dark gray. Years of heavy foot traffic and Central Florida’s brutal combination of blazing heat and frequent rain had faded the surrounding ground to a noticeably lighter, worn-out shade, making the newly darkened section stand out in sharp contrast.

WDWNT reported the change on Thursday, sharing a photo of the refreshed area:

The pavement nearest the entrance tapstyles and the approach walkway leading to the booths still carries the faded look of the untreated sections, suggesting the project is being completed in phases. Whether crews are planning to tackle those remaining areas in the days ahead hasn’t been officially confirmed by Walt Disney World Resort, which made no public announcement about the work.

Because the repainting wrapped up before park hours, Walt Disney World Resort guests walked right into a completed refresh on Thursday with no disruption to the entrance. For now, the ticket booth area at Disney’s Hollywood Studios is looking cleaner than it has in some time.

As construction continues, the only scenario that could temporarily block guests is freshly applied paint that hasn’t fully dried. If it does, Disney cast members will simply cordon off the wet section with stanchions while theme park guests enter around it.
