Disneyland Blocks Out Annual Passholders for Park’s 70th Birthday

Disneyland70 is shaping up to be an unforgettable event—but not for everyone. As the Southern California theme park gears up to mark its 70th anniversary on July 17, 2025, many Annual Passholders are finding themselves left out of the magic.

Magic Key Disney Park Pass reservations for the resort’s official birthday have completely sold out, and not all pass tiers were even allowed to book. Only top-tier Inspire and Believe Key holders could make Park Pass reservations for the big day, while Enchant and Imagine Key holders were blocked out entirely. Now, Disneyland Resort’s website confirms that both Inspire and Believe Key Park Pass reservations are sold out for July 17:

Earlier this year, Disneyland Resort announced a lineup of exciting experiences for its 70th anniversary under the “Celebrate Happiness” banner. Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Goofy, Donald Duck, Clarabelle, Pluto, and other Disney characters will debut festive new outfits, while Sleeping Beauty Castle and other park areas will be decked out in themed decorations. Exclusive snacks and Disneyland70 merchandise will be available across the Southern California Disney Resort.

At Disneyland Park, the party includes the new “Celebrate Happy” character cavalcade featuring Duffy and Shellie May; an updated “it’s a small world” featuring Coco (2017) characters, the “Tapestry of Happiness” projection show, and a new song verse by the Sherman Brothers; and the debut of “Walt Disney – A Magical Life” in the Main Street Opera House—the first-ever show to feature a Walt Disney audio-animatronic.

Disney California Adventure Park will join in the fun with “World of Color Happiness!”—an interactive nighttime spectacular featuring a Muppets preshow—and the return of the “Better Together: A Pixar Pals Celebration!” parade. Toy Story Midway Mania! will also receive Disneyland70-themed updates.

While the Disneyland70 celebration officially begins on May 16 and runs through summer 2026, the park’s actual birthday remains the most anticipated date—and now, one of the hardest to attend. Though most themed offerings debut in May, “Walt Disney – A Magical Life” won’t premiere until July 17.

For guests shut out of the celebration, there are still slim chances. Magic Key Pass holders can monitor reservation availability for possible cancellations or opt to purchase a standard single-day theme park ticket, though those may also sell out.
