When visiting the Disneyland Resort, choosing where to start can be a tough decision. With so many amazing rides and attractions, it’s hard to know where to begin! Disneyland Park still features many opening day attractions, each filled with that special magic that only this park holds. After all, Disneyland is the only theme park where Walt Disney was intimately involved in its creation from start to finish.
But did you know that you can experience one of Walt’s favorite futuristic attractions before even stepping into the park? We’re talking about the iconic Disneyland Monorail!

The Disneyland Resort website has confirmed that the Disneyland Monorail will undergo scheduled refurbishment, commencing on January 6, 2025. This closing of the beloved ride is part of Disney’s commitment to maintaining its attractions in optimum condition for safety and enjoyment. Unfortunately, there is currently no reopening date provided, leading to uncertainty for park visitors planning their trips during early 2025.
The Disneyland Monorail, a fixture of the park since its inauguration in 1959, serves as a crucial transportation option for guests. It links Downtown Disney with Tomorrowland and takes guests through Buena Vista Street, Grizzly Peak, and Hollywood Land in Disney California Adventure Park. However, it does not stop in DCA.

The Disneyland Monorail is not the only attraction set for closure in early 2025. On January 7, the Haunted Mansion Holiday will transition back to its traditional version, a change that has been much anticipated as it has remained in its holiday state for over a year. The reopening date for the classic Haunted Mansion ride is slated for January 17.
Moreover, two popular attractions in Disney California Adventure Park will also close on January 6, 2025. Grizzly River Run is scheduled to be closed until March 13, while Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind is expected to reopen on January 23.
In addition to these closures, the Red Car Trolley will close on February 9, 2025, as part of preparations for the expansion of Avengers Campus. The attraction will be closed for years, and there is a chance that it will never reopen. However, the Trolley will remain at the beginning of Buena Vista Street, so guests can still visit it and take photos.
