Disneyland Guests Scramble for Alternate Options After Fire Near Sleeping Beauty Castle

A fire at a Central Plaza snack kiosk has added one more complication to an already disrupted stretch of Disneyland Park in Paris, right in the shadow of Sleeping Beauty Castle.

On June 8, X (formerly known as Twitter) user @PixiedustDLP documented the aftermath of the fire, sharing a photo of a shuttered popcorn-and-snack kiosk in the Central Plaza area at Disneyland Park in Paris alongside this explanation:

Disneyland Paris Resort has not commented publicly on the incident, leaving the timeline and specific circumstances of the fire unconfirmed. The damage appears to have been contained to the kiosk’s equipment, with no indication of broader structural impact to the surrounding area. Whether the closure is expected to be brief or will last longer hasn’t been addressed by the European Disney destination.

The Worst Possible Timing

For guests visiting the Central Plaza area right now, the loss of a snack option is just the latest inconvenience in a part of the park that has been navigating significant disruption for months.

A refurbishment of the Sleeping Beauty Castle bridge has been underway since early May and is expected to continue through late September 2026. Construction walls line the bridge approach, and Disney Park guests looking to access the castle walkthrough or La Tanière du Dragon — The Lair of the Dragon — must use alternate pathways to get there. Themed scrim has been installed over portions of the barriers to soften the visual impact in vacation photos.

Additional walls have appeared in the wider Central Plaza area in recent months as crews work on nearby pavement and structural elements. However, Disneyland Paris Resort has not publicly addressed these projects. Those efforts appear to be separate from the castle bridge work and unconnected to Monday’s kiosk fire.
