A Disneyland Resort guest recently suffocated in what some fans call “unbearable” conditions at the Southern California Disney parks.

It might be “The Happiest Place on Earth,” but not everyone leaves with a smile. Recent incidents at Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park have traumatized some guests. Last year, a woman was seriously injured when a light post collapsed on top of her on Main Street, U.S.A. Weeks ago, guests narrowly avoided injury when a large speaker system fell over near Sleeping Beauty Castle.

Some upsetting experiences are the fault of other Disney Park guests. Last July, a man lengthened a Pirates of the Caribbean evacuation when he refused to wait for Disney cast members’ assistance. Instead, he climbed into the waist-deep ride water and dragged his infant child to the nearest emergency exit.

Months later, a brawl broke out in broad daylight at Disneyland Resort. The two families fought in front of hundreds of children, blocking a central walkway in and out of Fantasyland at Disneyland Park. The dispute allegedly began when one of the parties refused to get out of the other’s way.

This week, Disney Parks fans say a more subtle anti-social behavior negatively impacts the Disneyland Resort guest experience. The conversation began with a post from Redditor u/Themandoloriano: “Friendly reminder to all my park goers to please wear deodorant.”

“I know with all the excitement we sometimes forget about personal hygiene, we spend a lot of the time walking and rushing from one location to another, so sweating is inevitable especially now that summer is here,” the Disney Park guest wrote. “We were at [Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance] today waiting in line, and the smell was unbearable and too much.”

The post amassed more than 500 votes of support and hundreds of sympathetic comments. Far too many Disney Parks fans were familiar with the smothering scent of body odor in the summer heat.

“I was there a few weeks ago and it was a grad night day and the smell was…. Pungent,” u/CarrotAny1903 recalled. “May and June are grad night months. Could that have been it? I decided to blame the teenagers for the smell.”

“I do remember going a while back when it was still hot and those hallways into Smugglers Run were so stinky,” u/freexanarchy replied. “BO and farts just linger as the line doesn’t move very much.”

“That’s nice of you to give them the benefit of the doubt that maybe they forgot,” said u/BuggyBonzai. “I think there are just tons of slobs out there.”

Some commenters shared tips for staying fresh at the Disney parks.

“If you ask at the Emporium, they often have one or two brands to choose from behind the counter,” u/Trulio_Dragon wrote. “You can also purchase small containers of baby powder at the Baby Care Center.”

“For the smells averse: Bring a tiny tub of Vicks vapor rub with you to the parks and when the smells get especially offensive dab a small amount under your nose,” said u/non_ducor_duco, a healthcare worker. “For those that suffer from difficult-to-manage body odor: glycolic acid is an absolute game changer.”

“Hand sanitizer is also a good mid-day deodorant,” u/wddiver replied. “The bacteria that feed on sweat (eeewww) are what cause odor, and hand sanitizer with alcohol kills them. A small bottle is easy to carry, and does double duty as deodorant and hand sanitizer.”
