There’s been a change of plans in Disneyland.

The temporary Earl of Sandwich location at Downtown Disney lives on. The eatery was originally scheduled to close tomorrow, July 26, 2025, but will instead remain open for an indefinite amount of time, Disneyland has announced. This is a somewhat surprising announcement, as plans had been made well in advance to say goodbye to this location this July.
Earl of Sandwich took over the former spot of La Brea Bakery back in 2023 and has operated as a temporary pop-up location ever since. This area will eventually be replaced by Porto’s Bakery. A proper and permanent Earl of Sandwich location is currently being built on the opposite side of Downtown Disney.
Disney filed permits to demolish the old La Brea Bakery and the temporary Earl of Sandwich earlier this year. It’s unclear what caused plans to change, but it seems like guests will be able to grab their history-themed sub sandwiches from the temporary Earl of Sandwich for the foreseeable future.
Earl of Sandwich has become a popular spot at Disneyland’s Downtown Disney. The outdoor shopping and dining hub features all sorts of places to grab a bite to eat and a drink to sip.
The Walt Disney World Resort also features its own Earl of Sandwich location, which proves just as popular.
The closure of Earl of Sandwich is hardly the only big change Disneyland will be seeing in the coming years. Earlier this year, Disneyland shared more news about the resort’s upcoming Avatar land expansion.
This exciting new area will take notes from Disney World’s Pandora, giving West Coast guests the chance to embark on their own Avatar adventure. The new land will take over a significant portion of Disney California Adventure. Monsters Inc., Mike, and Sully to the rescue, will permanently close in 2026 to make way for Disneyland’s Avatar project.
