Disneyland California Guests Flee Coaster After Sudden Breakdown

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to evacuate from the top of a Disney roller coaster? A Disneyland Resort guest recently shared their experience climbing out of Goofy’s Sky School at Disney California Adventure Park.

Goofy’s Sky School is a wild mouse-style roller coaster in Paradise Gardens Park at Disney California Adventure Park. The family-friendly attraction opened as Mulholland Madness when the Disney Park opened in 2001.

Originally named after a busy road in Los Angeles, the ride’s original title practically predicted its future–three accidents occurred on Mulholland Madness in its first month of operation, forcing it to close for repairs for a few months. The roller coaster reopened with the Goofy’s Glider (1940) theme in 2011.

Despite its early penchant for chaos, Goofy’s Sky School has operated safely without incident for decades thanks to Disney’s strict safety policies. One Disney California Adventure Park guest recently shared what it’s like to evacuate the roller coaster when Disneyland Resort cast members deem it necessary.

TikTok user @tinynmickey shared this video of themselves walking on the emergency exit platform at the top of Goofy’s Sky School:

“This is crazy,” the guest said in the video.

The TikToker filmed as they walked across the emergency exit platform and descended the stairs to the ground. Emergency lights illuminated the pathway to ensure guests evacuated safely.

Although climbing out of a roller coaster would be a nightmare for some theme park guests, the TikToker wasn’t disappointed by their experience.

“This was lowkey sick,” they wrote. “They gave me two lightning lanes too.”

What shut down Goofy’s Sky School remains unclear. At the time of this article’s finalization, the rollercoaster had reopened and was operating normally.

  1. I’ve been stuck twice in the haunted mansion about a year apart. I did recieved a lightning lane pass both times. No big deal about 20 minute wait time inside in the partial darkness before they escorted us out. But hey it happens.
