Disneyland Resort has confirmed some sad changes for Guests planning to visit “The Happiest Place on Earth” in the near future.

While many Guests visit Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park to ride iconic attractions like the Haunted Mansion, Pirates of the Caribbean, Jungle Cruise, “it’s a small world”, Space Mountain, Incredicoaster, Radiator Springs Racers, and Guardians of the Galaxy– Mission: BREAKOUT, there’s so much more to do when visiting the Anaheim, California Resort.

In addition to parades, eating your favorite snacks, and meeting some of your favorite Disney characters, there’s nothing more magical than finishing off your night by checking out some of the nighttime spectaculars at both theme parks. World of Color and Disney’s “Wondrous Journeys” are two popular shows that happen nightly, but there’s also another nighttime spectacular that draws a massive crowd each night. Of course, it’s Fantasmic!

Unfortunately, the show suffered a malfunction last weekend that left Murphy, the giant dragon, up in flames. The entire island has since been closed off, and construction continues as Disney works toward reopening.

While it was initially believed that Disneyland was planning to have the show return this weekend, the website confirms that the attraction is now shutting down for an extended closure.

Disney has removed Fantasmic! from its schedule all the way through Thursday, May 25. The show is now scheduled to return on Friday, May 26, with its two normal performances at 9:00 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. From there, the show remains on the schedule as usual. Of course, this is all subject to change depending on construction. The Fantasmic! at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Walt Disney World Resort remains open and operating as normal.

Fantasmic! tells the story of Mickey Mouse dreaming he is the Sorcerer’s Apprentice. With a wave of his hands, he conducts scenes from Fantasia across enormous screens of water while brilliant sparks burst overhead. Pink elephants, swashbuckling pirates, princesses and more—including memorable scenes from Disney classics such as Aladdin, The Lion King, Tangled and Pirates of the Caribbean—appear on and around the Rivers of America.

When Mickey is suddenly pulled into the Magic Mirror, his dream turns dark. The Evil Queen from Snow White conjures up some of Disney’s most dastardly villains! Mickey must use the power of his imagination to vanquish his foes—and save the day.

Featuring a fantastical array of live performers, beloved Disney characters, enhanced special effects, state-of-the-art projections and superb pyrotechnics, this show will wow the entire family.

When the show does return, keep in mind that Fantasmic! may not occur daily and showtimes are subject to change. Please check Disney’s official Entertainment Schedule or the Disneyland app for dates and showtimes.
