Walt Disney World is home to four different theme parks, each with a totally different vibe and theme: Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, EPCOT, and Hollywood Studios.

Each Disney theme park offers wholly unique experiences, so no Disney park is like another. Although some rides have been replicated all over the world, Walt Disney World is easily the most distinctive Disney vacation resort in the world.

Of all Four Theme Parks, Hollywood Studios Has the Most Thrills and Chills

We may sound biased, but it’s true! There’s nothing like Epcot, Animal Kingdom, or Hollywood Studios. Speaking of Hollywood Studios, between all four Walt Disney World theme parks, this is the one with the most thrilling attractions by far: Tower of Terror and the Rock ‘N’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith.

The Tower of Terror is an incredibly efficient attraction when it’s working properly. But, unfortunately, the same cannot be said about the Rock ‘N’ Roller Coaster…

For whatever reason, the Rock ‘N’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith is almost always closed!

Similar to Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance (also found in Hollywood Studios), you never know when you’re gonna open the My Disney Experience app to see “Temporarily Closed” instead of a wait time.

This happens so often that fans have begun to notice. One anonymous fan, in particular, has even taken to social media to ask about it:

anyone know why rock’n roller coaster temporarily closes so much?

Some fans have had some theories regarding this attraction’s constant closure.

One anonymous fan wrote, “I don’t know 100% but I feel like I heard it’s because they have to retrieve unsecured items a lot, since it’s a looping coaster.” However, another member of the Subreddit who claimed to be a former cast member chimed in and said that this is unlikely.

Another anonymous fan writes, “The initial ride launch. It’s run by magnets that have to remain cold inside the launch tunnel and the launcher pad latches to the bottom of the ride cart. If this doesn’t work the whole ride can’t run.” When asked about how they learned this, they claimed to have seen a backstage tour of the iconic roller coaster.

So, Why Is the Rock ‘N’ Roller Coaster Always Closed?

But when it comes down to it, this is all speculation, and nobody knows the true reason for this roller coaster’s constant closure (except, perhaps, for Walt Disney Imagineering).

While we don’t know the reason behind this phenomenon, we do know one thing: you never truly know whether this ride will be “Temporarily Closed” or ready to rock.

We want to hear from our readers! What do you think is the reason for this classic Disney thrill ride’s constant closures? Let Disney Dining know in the comments below.
