Disney World Reveals 6 Updates That Will Reshape Attractions in 2026
Disney World isn’t easing into 2026—it’s moving through it with constant updates that are hard to miss. Across all four parks, attractions are closing, reopening, or getting major upgrades. Entire areas are shifting direction, and new experiences are stepping in to reshape what guests can expect.
This isn’t one major announcement driving the conversation. It’s a steady rollout of changes that, when combined, make this year feel very different from what Disney World looked like just a short time ago.
Some updates bring familiar rides back to life. Others introduce experiences that didn’t exist before. And a few go beyond attractions entirely, changing how guests plan their trips from the start.
Disney Is Pushing Discounts in a Big Way
Before guests even enter the parks, Disney is making moves that could significantly impact vacation planning.
For a limited time in 2026, Disney is offering a free dining deal for guests who book a qualifying vacation package. Those who reserve at least a four-night stay with a four-day ticket that includes the Park Hopper option may receive a dining plan at no extra cost. Depending on where you stay, that could mean either the Quick-Service Dining Plan or the standard Disney Dining Plan, both of which include meals, snacks, and a refillable resort mug.
This offer must be booked by April 30, 2026, and only applies to select travel dates.
At the same time, Disney has rolled out a 4-Day, 4-Park Magic Ticket along with hotel discounts for Florida residents, Annual Passholders, and other guests. Together, these offers suggest Disney is trying to balance rising costs with targeted savings.

Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin Returns With Changes
Once guests step inside Magic Kingdom, one of the biggest returning attractions will look noticeably different.
Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin has been closed since last fall, and Disney is using that time to give the ride a meaningful update. When it reopens on April 8, 2026, guests will see refreshed ride vehicles, redesigned targets, and upgraded blasters.
The experience will also include a brand-new scene and, for the first time, ride photos.
These updates aim to make the gameplay feel smoother and more interactive, bringing the attraction closer to modern standards while retaining its competitive feel.
EPCOT Gets a New Soarin’ Experience
While Magic Kingdom focuses on upgrades, EPCOT is introducing something new to an existing favorite.
Soarin’ Across America is set to debut on May 26, 2026, as part of the United States’ 250th anniversary celebration. This version of the attraction will take guests across the country, highlighting both natural landscapes and major cities.
The ride system itself isn’t changing, but the film is. That alone gives returning guests a fresh reason to revisit the attraction.

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad Prepares to Reopen
Back at Magic Kingdom, another major update has been happening behind the scenes.
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad closed in January 2025 for a large-scale refurbishment. Disney has been updating elements throughout the ride, including effects and lighting, while also working on improvements designed to enhance the overall experience.
The attraction is expected to reopen in early May 2026, although an exact date hasn’t been announced yet.
Given how long it’s been closed, expectations are high for what guests will see when it returns.

Bluey Expands Animal Kingdom’s Offerings
Animal Kingdom is also getting something new, especially for younger guests.
Bluey’s Wild World is arriving at Conservation Station beginning May 26, 2026. Guests will be able to meet Bluey and Bingo, take part in games inspired by the show, and explore animals connected to Australia.
The experience includes a petting area called Jumping Junction, which adds an interactive layer that fits well with the park’s theme.
Disney has indicated that the experience will continue beyond its initial summer debut, suggesting it could become a longer-term offering.
Hollywood Studios Reimagines Animation Courtyard
Over at Hollywood Studios, a larger transformation is underway.
Animation Courtyard closed last fall and is being reworked into the Walt Disney Studios Courtyard. The first phase of this update opens May 26, 2026.
Guests can expect a new Disney Jr. stage show, updated meet-and-greet experiences with characters like Rapunzel and Mulan, and interactive activities that focus on animation. A redesigned drawing experience will also give guests a chance to learn how to sketch Disney characters.
A reimagined version of The Magic of Disney Animation will follow later in summer 2026.

2026 Feels Like a Turning Point
When you look at all these updates together, it becomes clear that Disney World is undergoing a broader shift.
The changes touch everything—from how guests book their trips to what they experience inside the parks. And with so many updates arriving around the same time, 2026 stands out as a year of steady transformation.
Whether that makes planning easier or more complicated depends on the guest. But one thing is clear—Disney World is actively reshaping the future of its parks.
