Disney World Restaurant Set to End Family-Style Dining, Bringing Back Buffet August 28

When Walt Disney World Resort reopened after its months-long pandemic closure, there were a number of drastic changes that were made in order to keep Guests and Cast Members safe. One of those changes was the elimination of buffet and character dining. For months, restaurants that once offered buffets decided to give Guests “family-style” dining. After months, characters were slowly brought back in, but only walked through the restaurants at set times and did not walk up to the tables.

In the nearly two years that Walt Disney World has been reopened, things have slowly been inching back to the way they were before the pandemic. Character interactions are back in full force, crowds have been increased, masks are no longer required, and buffets are slowly making a return. Disney has been cautious in bringing buffet-style dining back, being sporadic in their openings. We are now learning that another popular restaurant in Disney’s Hollywood Studios will be bringing back its buffet dining beginning August 28.

Hollywood and Vine is a popular sit-down restaurant in Hollywood Studios, especially for those with younger children. The Play n’ Dine Breakfast allows younger Guests to interact with the characters they love from Disney Junior shows. What makes it even more fun for families is that the character’s costumes change depending on the time of year! That means you’ll see Minnie and her friends in costumes during Halloween time, festive clothes during the holiday season, etc.

It is important to note that Disney Junior characters are ONLY featured at the Play n’ Dine breakfast. For lunch and dinner, the characters will be Minnie and her closest friends. As with most sit-down locations on property, advanced dining reservations are not required, but are highly recommended. Occasionally, same-day reservations are available, but that is never a guarantee.
