Disney World: Popular Magic Kingdom Restaurants Get Immediate Changes

Three of the park’s best-known restaurants have added new dishes, and between them there’s something for the savory crowd, the sweet tooth, and the plant-based diner alike.

Here’s a look at what’s landed and how to plan around it.

For the Dessert-First Crowd: The Plaza Restaurant

Let’s start with the item most likely to show up on your social feeds. The Plaza Restaurant, the charming turn-of-the-century spot near Cinderella Castle at the end of Main Street, U.S.A., has long been a go-to for over-the-top ice cream treats, and its new Steamboat Willie Milk Shake keeps that tradition going. Celebrating Mickey Mouse’s movie debut, the shake features hand-dipped cookies ‘n cream ice cream piled high with whipped cream, cookies and cream churros, a sugar cookie, and a cherry.

Want to balance that out? The Plaza has also introduced a Chilled Shrimp Wedge Salad with hard-boiled egg, avocado purée, tomatoes, cracked pepper, and Thousand Island dressing. Order one of each and call it even.

For a Splurge Dinner: Be Our Guest Restaurant

Over in Fantasyland, Be Our Guest Restaurant is leaning hard into hearty French cooking. Dining inside the Beast’s castle, whether in the Grand Ballroom, the Rose Gallery, or the atmospheric West Wing, is already a bucket-list experience for many families, and the new menu gives the food a chance to match the setting.

The star is Beef Bourguignon en Croute, braised low and slow in red wine alongside potatoes, root vegetables, smoked bacon, and bone marrow. On the side, look for Truffle Pomme Frites dusted with Parmesan and served with black garlic-truffle aioli, plus a Lobster Macaroni au Gratin finished with sauce Mornay. This is not a light lunch, so plan your afternoon accordingly.

For Classic Comfort: Tony’s Town Square Restaurant

Right as you step into the park, Tony’s Town Square Restaurant channels the 1955 classic Lady and the Tramp with a menu built on Italian favorites. New this round are the Insalata della Casa in balsamic vinaigrette and a Lasagna alla Bolognese layered with mozzarella, ricotta, parmesan, and pecorino Romano.

Plant-based guests get a welcome addition too: Eggplant Parmigiana baked in Tony’s Marinara Sauce, topped with plant-based mozzarella, and served with spaghetti.

Planning Tips

All three restaurants take reservations through the My Disney Experience app. Our advice? Don’t wait. Be Our Guest in particular remains one of the toughest tables to snag at Walt Disney World, so lock in your booking as early as you can.

Thomas Hitchen

When he’s not thinking about the Magic Kingdom, Thomas is usually reading a book, becoming desperately obsessed with fictional characters, or baking something delicious (his favorite is chocolate cake -- to bake and to eat). He's a dreamer and grew up on Mulan saving the world, Jim Hawkins soaring through the stars, and Padmé Amidala fighting a Nexu. At the Parks, he loves to ride Everest, stroll down Main Street with an overstuffed pin lanyard around his neck, and eat as many Mickey-shaped ice creams as possible. His favorite character is Han Solo (yes, he did shoot first), and his… More »
