Disney World Implements New Dining Protocol at Multiple Resort Locations

Walt Disney World is making another behind-the-scenes change to its dining operations, introducing dedicated ordering locations for guests with food allergies at select Disney Resort hotels.

According to reports from Kenny the Pirate, new “Allergy Request Orders Here” stations have started appearing at locations including Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort, and Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter. While the update may appear modest, it has the potential to make ordering meals much simpler for guests who depend on Disney’s allergy-friendly dining program.

Disney has long accommodated guests with food allergies and dietary restrictions across Walt Disney World. Whether dining at a full-service restaurant or picking up a quick-service meal, the resort has established procedures designed to help families navigate food allergies with greater confidence.

At quick-service locations, allergy-friendly meals are prepared separately and delivered on distinctive purple trays so cast members can easily identify special orders throughout the preparation and pickup process. Disney has also modernized its internal procedures by replacing printed ingredient binders with digital tablets, allowing cast members to quickly check ingredients and preparation information.

Until now, however, guests needing to discuss allergies generally had to wait in the regular ordering line before speaking with a chef or manager.

The newly designated allergy ordering stations remove that step by allowing guests to begin the consultation process immediately before placing their order. Guest reports also indicate receipts may now reflect whether an allergy consultation occurred, displaying either “accept consult” after speaking with a chef or manager or “decline consult” when guests order through an allergy menu or Mobile Order without requesting a consultation.

The change builds on Walt Disney World’s broader allergy-friendly dining program, which is available at most table-service and quick-service restaurants throughout the resort.

Guests can request meals prepared without common allergens, including milk, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, soy, wheat, fish, shellfish, and sesame. Cast members can also assist with additional dietary concerns involving gluten, lactose, corn, citrus, nightshades, MSG, and other ingredients.

Allergy-friendly menus are available online and through the My Disney Experience app, while Special Diets-trained cast members work alongside chefs to answer questions and accommodate requests when possible. Disney also encourages guests with multiple allergies or medically restrictive diets to contact its Special Diets team before their vacation. Although the company takes extensive measures to reduce cross-contact, it reminds guests that it cannot guarantee any meal will be completely free of allergens and recommends confirming orders with cast members before eating.

Originally introduced to reduce waits at quick-service restaurants, Mobile Order has become one of the resort’s most popular planning tools. Guests can browse menus, customize meals, pay in advance, choose an arrival window, and then tap “I’m Here, Prepare My Order” once they arrive at the restaurant.

Today, the feature is available at dozens of dining locations across Walt Disney World’s four theme parks, Disney Springs, and many Disney Resort hotels. Recently, though, guests noticed another operational change affecting the service.

Late last month, reports surfaced that Disney had begun geofencing Mobile Order at several Magic Kingdom-area Deluxe Resorts, including Disney’s Contemporary Resort, Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, and Disney’s Wilderness Lodge. Rather than allowing guests to place orders from anywhere on Disney property, the My Disney Experience app now displays a “You’re Too Far Away” message unless users are physically close to participating resorts.

Many guests believe the update is intended to prevent visitors from placing inexpensive Mobile Orders simply to gain vehicle access to popular resort hotels. Previously, some drivers would place a small order before arriving and use the confirmation to justify entering the property. The new location verification appears to eliminate that workaround while still allowing Mobile Order to function for guests already visiting the resort. Disney has not officially announced the change, and it currently appears to affect only select locations.

Unlike those Mobile Order restrictions, Disney’s new allergy ordering stations are aimed at making the dining experience more accessible. If the test rollout is successful, dedicated allergy ordering locations could eventually expand to additional Disney Resort hotels, further strengthening one of Walt Disney World’s most guest-focused dining services.
