At EPCOT, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind continues to anchor World Discovery as one of Walt Disney World Resort’s most talked-about attractions. With its unique blend of storytelling, high-speed thrills, and cosmic adventure, the roller coaster usually draws steady crowds from rope drop to evening close. But on May 28, 2025, observant fans on social media spotted something a little out of the ordinary.
“The queue is outside right now to the left and entering through a back door. Not sure why,” wrote Reddit user TrashPanda-1108 in a post that sparked conversation among fans of the park.
Guests shared theories and reports that pointed toward a possible maintenance issue inside the queue. One user, CatStimpsonJ, observed, “been that way since at least 9 a.m. this morning … I saw someone with hand tools go in the front – hammer, cordless drill, etc.”
Another commenter, TemperatureFickle596, added context from a recent visit, “I went yesterday and the ceiling been busted from a sprinkler leak & the wall had water inside of the wallpaper from it.”
Though no official statement has been released by Disney, such issues would understandably result in operational changes. On the day of the Reddit post, some noticed a rerouted entrance, raising eyebrows among guests familiar with the attraction’s usual procedures.
Cosmic Rewind has been thrilling guests since opening as EPCOT’s first roller coaster and the first Disney ride to feature a reverse launch. The indoor coaster, manufactured by Vekoma, stretches more than 5,500 feet and reaches top speeds of 60 mph during its 3.5-minute runtime.
Its 360-degree rotating ride vehicles allow guests to feel fully immersed in the galactic mission, alongside beloved characters like Star-Lord, Gamora, Rocket, Groot, Drax, and Nova Prime (once again portrayed by Glenn Close). The attraction also introduced Terry Crews as Centurion Tal Marik.
A rotating soundtrack of six classic hits—from “September” to “Conga”—adds to the kinetic experience, giving each ride-through a slightly different energy. Since early 2025, the ride has dropped its virtual queue system in favor of standby and Lightning Lane access, a shift that sparked a variety of guest reactions.
While the queue may have looked emptier than usual on this particular day, regular attendees know it remains one of the busiest attractions at EPCOT. Interestingly, this isn’t the first time attention has been drawn to the queue. Back in March, a viral video circulated after guests discovered waste on the queue walls and floor—an incident that many still recall when unusual updates surface.
Even with temporary hiccups, EPCOT continues to offer a packed slate of seasonal experiences. The Cool Kids Summer celebration is now underway, with GoofyCore transforming the CommuniCore Hall into a vibrant hotspot. And looking ahead, guests are eagerly anticipating the reopening of Test Track following its ongoing refurbishment.
