A raft on Kali River Rapids sat still at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park, and the passengers aboard assumed the ride had broken. The real reason was tucked behind one rider’s back.

Instagram user @familiafamaniafamily shared a video from the stoppage on Kali River Rapids. The man holding the camera kept recording while he waited for answers, and soon a cast member appeared after climbing the emergency evacuation stairs on the hill that leads to the main ride path.

The caption on the post read:

You’re stuck on Kali River Rapids thinking the ride malfunctioned… only to find out your wife was the reason the whole ride stopped. 🤦🏻😂🌊 #KaliRiverRapids #Disney #RideStopped #MarriageMoments #POV @j.famania12 @jaxielfamania21 @ezekielfamania.skateboarder @disneysanimalkingdom

What the Cast Member Found

“Hi, my love, do you have something back behind you?” the cast member asked.

“Really?” the woman answered, then pulled out several cell phones she had stashed behind her back. “Oh, my god. Sorry.”

The Disney cast member asked her to tug on her seat belt to confirm it was secure, then left and let the ride continue. Other guests in the raft cheered and clapped.

“She needs to get wet now,” the man filming joked. “Let her get soaked.”

Guests who want to protect their phones and other items from the splashes can use the free storage lockers near the entrance to Kali River Rapids in Asia. Following all posted signs and spoken instructions from cast members when boarding any attraction helps keep every rider safe.

The raft stoppage wasn’t the only ride interruption in the news this week. A separate guest jumped out of the Gran Fiesta Tour Starring the Three Caballeros at EPCOT on Tuesday, resulting in a temporary shutdown of the Mexico World Showcase Pavilion attraction.
