Disney World Ends Month-Long Closure at Grand Floridian Resort
Walt Disney World has been making some big changes across its property, and one of its most recognizable resort hotels has been caught in the middle of the construction.
From new roadways to updated entrances, Disney continues working on projects designed to improve how guests travel throughout the resort.
However, those improvements sometimes come with temporary closures and unexpected inconveniences.
That’s exactly what happened at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, where guests have spent more than a month navigating an unusual entrance configuration.
Now, Disney World has finally reopened an important roadway, bringing an end to a detour that complicated access to the luxury resort.

Disney World Reopens Grand Floridian Entrance After Month-Long Closure
Guests traveling to Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa have some good news.
After more than a month of construction, Disney World has reopened the southern roundabout entrance along Floridian Way, restoring direct vehicle access to the hotel.
According to reports from WDWNT, the roadway officially reopened on Monday, October 19, 2026.
The reopening comes after Disney introduced a temporary entrance configuration on September 10, forcing motorists to take a longer route to reach the resort.
Instead of following the familiar entrance road, drivers had to navigate a detour that passed overflow parking areas and Cast Member parking lots.
Electronic signs directed vehicles along the temporary route, but the changes made reaching the Grand Floridian more complicated than usual.
For visitors unfamiliar with Disney World’s roadways, the temporary arrangement could make arriving at the hotel particularly confusing.
Fortunately, the latest reopening should make things much easier.
What Has Changed at Disney’s Grand Floridian?
The biggest change involves the southern roundabout along Floridian Way.
Guests can once again use this roadway to reach the Grand Floridian’s main entrance without following the previous detour.
The restored entrance takes vehicles past the resort’s recognizable brick entrance sign, bringing back a more familiar arrival experience.
Disney has also installed a blue directional sign reading “Grand Floridian Turn Right,” helping motorists identify the correct road.
Although the entrance has reopened, construction hasn’t completely disappeared from the surrounding area.
Orange and white traffic cones remain near portions of the roadway, suggesting additional work or cleanup may still be necessary.

Crews recently installed new pavement and curbing along the entrance road, which contributed to the temporary closure.
As recently as October 15, the roadway was still undergoing improvements.
Just four days later, the entrance was back in operation.
It’s important to clarify that the Grand Floridian Resort itself never closed during this project. The restrictions affected roadway access rather than hotel operations.
More Construction Is Planned Near Magic Kingdom
While the entrance reopening is welcome news, Disney’s larger transportation project isn’t necessarily finished.
The Grand Floridian roadway improvements have been in development for more than a year.
In September 2025, Disney filed a permit outlining plans to reconfigure the hotel’s main entrance and connect it to new roundabouts.
Floridian Way received a new roadway configuration in August 2026, including two roundabouts intended to improve traffic movement.
Plans also call for another roundabout farther south, near the Magic Kingdom parking area.
Additionally, Disney’s Wedding Pavilion is expected to receive a new entrance south of its existing location.
These improvements could eventually change how guests navigate the area surrounding the Grand Floridian and Magic Kingdom.
Disney hasn’t announced a specific completion date for every remaining part of the project.
What This Means for Disney World Guests
For visitors staying at the Grand Floridian, the restored entrance should make arriving at the hotel considerably more convenient.
The resort has been a major part of Walt Disney World since opening in 1988, offering luxury accommodations, popular restaurants, and convenient access to Magic Kingdom.
It’s also a destination for guests visiting the property for dining reservations, special events, and weddings.
That means the entrance changes have affected more than just overnight hotel guests.
With the southern roundabout reopened, visitors can once again follow a more direct route to the resort.
Additional construction may continue nearby, but one of the biggest temporary inconveniences has finally come to an end.
For anyone planning a Grand Floridian visit, that’s certainly a welcome development.
