Unruly Guests Rip Pieces off of Disney World Character

Walt Disney World Resort fans are expressing frustration after photos surfaced showing damage to beloved Cars (2006) character statues at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort. The Fillmore and Lightning McQueen statues, popular photo spots for guests, were found missing decorative headlights, prompting online speculation about how the damage occurred.

Redditor u/sandy_shark903 shared photos of the damaged characters on Sunday, writing, “Fillmore and Lightning were missing a headlight.” The post sparked a heated discussion about guest behavior and maintenance issues at Walt Disney World Resort.

The photos led many Disney Parks fans to blame unruly guests for the missing pieces. Redditor u/mcamuso78 didn’t hold back, commenting, “This is why we can’t have nice stuff. I’m sure some kid peaked off the headlight and popped Fillmore’s off. While the parents watched and probably recorded their darling child expressing themselves.”

“The amount of children I’ve seen climbing on these cars even though they have no climbing signs right next to them is mind boggling,” u/sinfulcinderella echoed.

Some Disney Parks fans shared that the missing pieces were noticeable weeks ago. “Lightning also only had one headlight when we were there in early December,” wrote u/bauer_hockey10.

Another guest, u/GulfOyster, replied: “Oh man we stayed there mid-December and I just checked photos too. DID NOT NOTICE. Flo’s left taillight was hanging off too. I tried to fix it but it was in bad shape. Bummer.”

A Future for Cars at Walt Disney World Resort

While the damage at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort has sparked frustration, there’s still hope for fans of the Cars franchise at Walt Disney World Resort. Last year, Walt Disney Imagineering announced plans to introduce two all-new Cars attractions as part of Magic Kingdom Park’s reimagined Frontierland. The new rides will replace Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island, joining a more extensive expansion that includes a Villains Land “beyond Big Thunder Mountain.”

As for the Art of Animation Resort statues, Walt Disney World Resort has yet to announce repair plans.

  1. I think the Cars “statues” need to be removed. The courtyard designers probably never imagined that these would be abused like this. It is time to retire them. They have been problematic for the majority of rule following parents, who won’t let their children climb on them. I am sure there is some sort of surveillance there. If not, why not? If your kids can’t behave or controlled, than you get asked to leave too! This is getting ridiculous!
