A viral TikTok has ignited a heated discussion about bus etiquette at Walt Disney World Resort, and fans are divided. The video calls out younger male guests for failing to give up their seats for women and children on crowded Disney buses, sparking a broader conversation about manners, assumptions, and generational behavior.
The Disney Bus Experience
Walt Disney World buses are vital to the resort’s transportation system, shuttling guests between Disney Resort hotels, theme parks, Disney Springs, and more. While not as glamorous as the Monorail or Disney Skyliner, the buses are the most common way to get around the resort.
These buses are packed to capacity during peak times, like theme park opening or closing. Disney bus drivers often encourage guests to move as far back as possible to accommodate the largest number of people. Seats are typically claimed quickly, leaving many Disney Park guests standing for the journey.
The Viral Video
TikTok user @irenemcgee posted a video of a crowded Disney bus, criticizing male passengers for not offering their seats to women carrying children. The video’s caption read:
“men used to go to war now they won’t give up their seats to a mother carrying a child.”
@irenemcgee i’m
The video quickly went viral, amassing hundreds of thousands of likes and comments. Many Disney Parks fans sided with the poster, emphasizing that younger and male guests should be more mindful of offering seats to those in need.
“My husband gets up for any woman on a bus and I don’t have to nudge him,” said @lizzyd46. “If ur man isn’t doing this, he’s not a man.”
“I raised my boys to give up their seats,” @lilacgirl777 replied. “It’s how we raise our children.”
A Different Perspective
Not everyone agreed with the video’s sentiment. Some commenters argued that it’s unfair to assume why someone might stay seated, pointing out that many disabilities or injuries are not immediately visible.
“My husband had knee surgery which caused him to have to sit and so I never judge when someone doesn’t get up…you don’t know their situation so don’t assume they wouldn’t if they could,” @windpretear explained.
“What if they have health issues though?” @jandk22993 echoed. “You just don’t know…”
Others suggested that times have simply changed, with younger generations less inclined to follow traditional rules of etiquette.
“I’m sorry, but those days are long gone,” said @6578901t. “I’m tired too.”
Some Disney Parks fans shared that negative reactions to their attempts at politeness had discouraged them from continuing the practice.
“My boys have been yelled at so many times by angry women when they’ve offered them their seat,” @gigi26boys wrote. “They are treated as though they are being disrespectful by doing it, so they don’t anymore.”
