Holidays spent at Walt Disney World are nothing short of magical because of all the effort that goes into Guest experience and theming. Disney World does such a good job at theming that when something is off, the atmosphere can totally shift. This July 4th at Magic Kingdom, Guests had a jarring experience when the upbeat summer patriotic Disney holiday music took an incongruent turn.
Even as Magic Kingdom’s Cinderella Castle was lit up red, white, and blue for Independence Day, a familiar chime of sleigh bells suddenly played over the Disney Park’s speaker system.
“All I Want for Christmas is You” by Mariah Carey is an interesting 4th of July song choice.

After Guests took it in for a second, they recognized the opening to Mariah Carrey‘s “All I Want for Christmas is You.” A moment ago, Guests were fist-pumping to electronic music in Frontierland, but Disney World said, “Let’s take a moment for Christmas, though.”
Disney Parks are well known for being all about celebrating big holidays, even the halfway mark to those holidays. July 4th Magic Kingdom Guests and Disney fans who watched from social media accepted this sudden playlist outlier as another one of Disney’s Halfway to the Holidays celebrations. Though it still feels a little early in the month to be recognizing it, Merry Christmas in July from Walt Disney World, I guess!
Guests over at the Tomorrowland Dance Party also seemed a little confused by the music shift. The boards overhead all read July 4th, but the party-activating Cast Members insisted on a Mariah Carrey sing-along like nothing was odd saying, “You gotta sing this song, okay! We gotta make Mariah Carrey proud!” Look as the kids just stand around for a second, not exactly sure what to do.

Many Magic Kingdom party-goers were more than happy to get a little Christmas in their Walt Disney World magical holiday celebration. Just hear those Liberty Bells jingling…ring ting tingling too…!
