Booking a Disney World hotel usually comes down to a few major things: price, location, amenities, and how much time you actually plan to spend at the resort.
Now, guests considering Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort have another factor to add to that list.
Construction.

A lengthy refurbishment officially began at Coronado Springs on August 10, 2026, and this isn’t expected to wrap up anytime soon. Work on the Convention Center is scheduled to continue through September 2027, while the El Centro Corridor and surrounding areas are also included in the project.
With more than a year of work ahead, guests booked at Coronado Springs may want to decide whether staying there is still worth it.
Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort Has a Long Road Ahead
Coronado Springs has plenty going for it.
The Moderate Resort offers a different atmosphere from many other Disney World hotels, and it has become particularly popular with convention travelers. But that convention business is also connected to the latest construction.
Disney began refurbishing the Convention Center on August 10. The current schedule has that project running through September 2027.
The Convention Center isn’t the only area affected.
Work also involves the El Centro Corridor and surrounding portions of the property. Disney plans to tackle the refurbishment in phases, meaning certain areas could become unavailable as construction moves around the resort.
That’s where we’d start thinking twice about an upcoming reservation.
Should You Cancel Your Coronado Springs Stay?
We aren’t suggesting that guests cancel their entire Disney World vacations.
Instead, this may be the time to consider changing resorts.
There’s an important difference.
Coronado Springs remains open, and Disney hasn’t indicated that this refurbishment will prevent guests from enjoying the hotel altogether. Depending on when you visit and where your room is located, the construction might have very little effect on your vacation.
Still, you’re taking something of a gamble.

A phased refurbishment can look different from month to month. One portion of the property could be affected during a fall 2026 vacation, while another could be under construction in spring or summer 2027.
For travelers who spend most of their time at Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom, that may not matter.
For guests who enjoy spending time at their hotel, it could be a different story.
Resort Days Could Make the Difference
Not every Disney vacation involves racing from attraction to attraction from morning until night.
Some families intentionally build resort days into their schedules. Others head back to their rooms during the afternoon before returning to the parks at night.
Those are the guests who should pay particularly close attention to the Coronado Springs project.
When you’re paying Disney Resort prices, you probably want to enjoy the property you booked. Construction walls or unavailable areas can change that experience, even when the hotel technically remains fully operational.
That’s especially true because this project isn’t scheduled to end in a few weeks.
It stretches through September 2027.
Anyone considering Coronado Springs for the remainder of 2026 or much of 2027 should know that before locking in a reservation.
Other Disney World Resorts Have Construction, Too
Before changing hotels, however, do some homework.
Coronado Springs isn’t the only Disney World hotel undergoing work.
Construction around the porte cochere at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa is expected to continue through at least early 2027.

Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort also has work scheduled through late 2027, with guests potentially seeing and hearing construction during their stays.
Simply moving somewhere else doesn’t guarantee a construction-free vacation.
Still, Coronado Springs guests now know they’re looking at a refurbishment lasting across parts of both 2026 and 2027.
Check Your Options Before Your Trip
If you’re already booked at Coronado Springs, there’s no need to panic.
Instead, check Disney’s other available resorts for your travel dates.
If another hotel you like costs roughly the same amount, switching could eliminate some uncertainty. If changing resorts would dramatically increase your vacation price, staying at Coronado Springs might still be the better deal.
Every family will have a different answer.
What guests shouldn’t do is arrive without knowing what’s happening.
The Convention Center refurbishment is underway, the El Centro Corridor and surrounding areas are part of the project, and work is scheduled to continue through September 2027.
For some Disney World visitors, that’s enough reason to cancel their Coronado Springs reservation and book another hotel.
For everyone else, it’s at least something worth knowing before check-in.
