Disney World Passholders Locked Out of Morning Reservations at Two Parks
What Select Guests Need to Know
Walt Disney World Annual Passholders trying to start Saturday, September 26, 2026, at EPCOT or Disney’s Hollywood Studios hit a hard reservation wall. Both parks reached capacity for Passholder reservations, while Magic Kingdom and Disney’s Animal Kingdom remained available at the time the capacity change was reported.
The immediate consequence is narrow but significant: Passholders who did not already hold a reservation for EPCOT or Hollywood Studios could not select either park as their reserved starting park. That does not mean either theme park was closed to all guests or had reached its physical attendance limit.
EPCOT and Hollywood Studios Hit Passholder Reservation Capacity
The September 26 squeeze comes only days after Disney expanded reservation-free access elsewhere on the calendar. Inside the Magic reported earlier this month that September 23, 24, 28, and 29 were added as Good-to-Go Days, bringing September’s total to 11.
September 26 was not included in that group. For a Passholder planning a morning or early-afternoon visit, that distinction matters because Disney’s standard rules still make reservations part of the admission process on many dates.
Disney states that theme park reservations are limited and subject to availability. Its Annual Pass terms go further: Passholder reservations depend on the availability of park reservations “allocated to Passes” by Walt Disney Parks and Resorts U.S., Inc. That language is important because Passholder reservation availability is not the same thing as a declaration that the entire park is full.
Why the Reservation System Feels Different for Passholders
The contrast is especially visible because Disney no longer requires theme park reservations for most date-based tickets. Disney’s current reservation guidance says date-based ticket holders generally do not need them, while Annual Passholders may still need to reserve their first park.
Disney has softened that restriction with Good-to-Go Days and an afternoon exception. Passholders generally may enter a theme park after 2 p.m. without a reservation, except at Magic Kingdom on Saturdays and Sundays, subject to blockout dates and capacity limitations. Previous Passholder changes have illustrated how much those reservation-free dates can affect last-minute visits.
That leaves an unusual split. A Passholder can encounter no morning reservation availability for a park while a guest using qualifying date-based admission does not have to make that same reservation at all. Disney’s published rules confirm the different admission processes, but they do not establish that Disney intentionally withheld September 26 inventory from Passholders to favor higher-paying day guests.
Today’s Capacity Does Not Necessarily Mean EPCOT Is Full
“Reservation capacity” needs careful wording here. Disney’s Annual Pass calendar can run out of reservable Passholder inventory without proving that EPCOT or Hollywood Studios has reached its total operating capacity.
That distinction matters on September 26 because EPCOT is in the middle of the 2026 EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival. The festival runs from August 27 through November 21, according to Disney’s Passholder benefits information, giving guests another seasonal reason to choose EPCOT this weekend. None of those factors, by themselves, proves why Passholder inventory disappeared today. Disney has not publicly attributed the unavailable reservations to a particular event, attendance forecast, ticket mix, or operational decision.
What Locked-Out Passholders Can Still Do
Passholders who missed EPCOT or Hollywood Studios reservations are not necessarily out of options for the entire day. Disney says Passholders can generally enter its theme parks after 2 p.m. without a reservation; the weekend exception applies specifically to Magic Kingdom.
Another route may be starting at a park for which the Passholder already has a valid reservation and then using Park Hopper benefits. Disney says Annual Passholders can visit another park after entering their first park, although hopping remains subject to capacity limitations.
Availability can also change. Disney warns that park reservation availability is not guaranteed until finalized, and its calendar information can change. Inside the Magic previously reported that Disney moved the reservation workflow directly into the My Disney Experience app in 2026, allowing Passholders to check current availability and make reservations without leaving the app.
Those alternatives do not restore the ability to reserve EPCOT or Hollywood Studios as a morning starting park once their Passholder inventory is unavailable, but they make the practical impact more specific than a blanket “denied entry” claim.
The Bigger Annual Passholder Question Remains
Saturday’s reservation squeeze highlights a structural difference Disney still maintains between Annual Passholders and many vacation-ticket guests. Passholders buy repeat access, but on reservation-required dates, their morning park choice can depend on a separate pool of availability.
Disney also makes clear that Annual Passes do not guarantee admission on a particular date or to a particular park. Even the Incredi-Pass, which has no blockout dates, remains subject to reservation availability and capacity restrictions.
For September 26, the takeaway is therefore precise: EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios exhausted their reported Annual Passholder reservation availability, not necessarily their total guest capacity. Passholders heading out later today should recheck My Disney Experience and Disney’s official admission calendar before traveling, particularly because availability and capacity conditions can change.
