Disney World Gives Guests Early Access to Villains Experience

Walt Disney World Resort is gearing up for the debut of the upcoming Villains attraction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and guests have a chance to get a sneak peek before it officially opens. Disney has given a “first listen” to the original soundtrack of Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After, an exciting new show set to open next month.

Earlier this year, Walt Disney World Resort announced that Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After and The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure would debut at Disney’s Hollywood Studios on May 27, 2025. The Little Mermaid (1989) show is a reimagining of Voyage of the Little Mermaid, a live-action performance that closed after the COVID-19 pandemic shutdown. Guests will experience reimagined live performances with stunning special effects and jaw-dropping puppetry.

Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After will take place at the Sunset Showcase and immerse visitors in the world of Disney’s most infamous villains. Each performance will invite guests to vote on which Disney Villain they believe is the “most misunderstood.” The show will feature cutting-edge technology, live performances, and high-energy dance numbers to ensure guests leave with a smile.

On Thursday, Walt Disney World Resort released a sneak peek of the Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After soundtrack. The clip teases appearances from several iconic Disney baddies, including Cruella de Vil, Captain Hook, and Maleficent. Listen below:

Other changes are also in the works for Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Last year, it was announced that MuppetVision*3D, The Muppets Courtyard, and Grand Avenue will close in phases beginning in May to make way for a Monsters, Inc. (2001) themed land and roller coaster. The Muppets will give their final performance in June, but Disney has promised to preserve Muppet*Vision 3D—one of Jim Henson’s final projects—for future generations.

There has been some speculation among fans that Muppet*Vision 3D could return to the Sunset Showcase when the promised Disney Villains land opens at Magic Kingdom Park in a few years, possibly replacing Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After. Although this remains unconfirmed, Disney has promised that The Muppets will soon replace Aerosmith as the theme of the nearby Rock ‘n’ Rollercoaster.
