Disney Unveils Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Roundup: First Look at Scooter Animatronic, ‘FØØD’ Menu, and New Merch
Disney’s Hollywood Studios is heading into a huge couple of weeks, and the park’s newest additions are starting to come into focus. In just 11 days, Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets officially opens at Walt Disney World, replacing the longtime Aerosmith version of the attraction with a completely different concert experience.
Disney recently shared new details about the coaster, including updated ride scenes, original Muppet Audio-Animatronics, themed snacks, merchandise, and multiple ride soundtracks. For fans who have missed seeing the Muppets play a larger role inside the parks, this may be the biggest push Disney has made with the franchise in years.
Scooter Officially Joins the Ride
The attraction’s new story starts with a major change at G-Force Records. According to Disney, the company now operates under new Muppet management connected to J.P. Grosse, the same businessman tied to the Muppet Theatre. That setup leads guests directly into a backstage tour hosted by Scooter.
Inside the former Aerosmith recording studio, guests find The Electric Mayhem preparing for a huge concert while playing “Can You Picture That?” Disney also confirmed that Scooter will appear as the attraction’s first-ever Audio-Animatronic version of the character.
Imagineers used motion-capture technology to help build the figure. Disney explained that they recorded a real Scooter performance and used the captured movement data to recreate the Muppet’s expressions and gestures as accurately as possible.
The queue will also include penguin sound engineers that longtime Muppet fans may recognize from MuppetVision 3D. The returning penguin-style characters appear inspired by Elmer, Eugene, and Estelle from the former attraction.
After leaving the recording studio, guests board the famous L.I.M.O. ride vehicles and launch into a high-speed concert experience themed entirely around The Electric Mayhem.
Disney Shares the Ride’s Music Lineup
One of the biggest additions to the coaster involves the soundtrack itself. Disney confirmed that riders may hear several different songs depending on which version of the experience they receive.
The current lineup includes:
- “Song 2”
- “Born To Be Wild”
- “Love Rollercoaster”
- “Rock! Rock! (Till You Drop)”
- “Walking on Sunshine”
Several songs also include appearances from Camilla the Chicken, Jennifer Hudson, Questlove, Kelly Clarkson, and Def Leppard.
Disney says the rotating tracks give each ride its own style and pacing. Some lean more toward classic rock, while others bring a more upbeat concert energy that fits the Muppets’ chaotic humor.
The company also hinted that bonus songs may already exist, leading many fans to wonder if Disney plans to rotate additional tracks into the attraction later.
Merchandise and Food Expand the Experience
Disney is also heavily leaning into themed shopping and dining around the coaster.
After exiting the attraction, guests will head into Rock Around the Shop, where Disney plans to sell a new collection themed to The Electric Mayhem. One of the biggest items revealed so far is a guitar-shaped Loungefly crossbody bag featuring Animal and Kermit with “ROCK ON!” written across the design.
Additional merchandise includes new Electric Mayhem shirts, a “LET’S ROLL” license plate magnet featuring “MUPP3T5,” and a Miss Piggy women’s shirt covered in flashy artwork.
The Muppet expansion continues at FØØD by Swedish Chef, where Disney is introducing several themed menu items. Guests will be able to order Wocka Wocking Nachos, the Churro Drumstick, and the Mayhem Soft-Serve Float alongside Mini Corn Dogs, waffle cones, frozen floats, and Frozen Blue Raspberry drinks.
Adults can also add Bacardi Superior Rum or Tito’s Handmade Vodka to select beverages.
Hollywood Studios Keeps Growing This Summer
May 26 will not just belong to the Muppets. Disney also plans to open the Walt Disney Studios area at Hollywood Studios on the same day.
The new section takes inspiration from Disney’s real Burbank studio lot. It will include updated pathways, studio-style scenery, The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure, and Disney Jr. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live!
Later this summer, Disney will expand the area again with The Magic of Disney Animation, an interactive attraction featuring character experiences, drawing activities, and animation-themed play spaces.
Even before all of those additions arrive, another major update hits the park on May 22 when Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run introduces a new mission featuring the Mandalorian and Grogu.
Hollywood Studios already feels different heading into summer, and Disney clearly wants this season to mark the beginning of a major new chapter for the park.
