Disney Cruise Line Water Slide “Falls Apart,” Pieces Hang Over Ocean
Guests who boarded the Disney Treasure on Saturday for a seven-day Eastern Caribbean voyage got an unwelcome surprise the moment they stepped onto the pool deck. One day later, they’re still waiting for answers from Disney Cruise Line.
AquaMouse Falls Apart Before the Disney Treasure Even Leaves Port

On May 23, departure day for the Disney Treasure’s seven-day sailing to the Virgin Islands and Castaway Cay, X (formerly known as Twitter) user @bryan_blk631 shared a photo showing Disney cast members working on a partially disassembled AquaMouse water coaster on the ship’s deck:
looks like we’re stuck here for awhile, on the Disney Treasure. the aquamouse fell apart

AquaMouse is one of the signature attractions available exclusively aboard the Disney Treasure, Disney Wish, and Disney Destiny. The Mickey Mouse-themed water coaster sends guests soaring over the ocean in large inflated tubes, passing through darkened passageways filled with animated cartoon shorts, lighting, music, and special effects. For many passengers, it’s one of the primary draws of sailing on these ships.

Whatever went wrong wasn’t a simple fix. Shortly after the initial post, @bryan_blk631 shared an update confirming that Disney Cruise Line had informed passengers that the attraction was unlikely to open at any point during the voyage:
just got a notice that it might be closed this entire trip

No Compensation, No Repair Timeline

By Sunday, guests were still in the dark on two fronts — whether AquaMouse would open at all, and whether Disney Cruise Line planned to offer any form of compensation for its absence. @bryan_blk631 posted another update on May 24:
we’re waiting to see if it opens today

The lack of a goodwill gesture stands in contrast to Disney Cruise Line’s handling of a similar situation aboard the Disney Adventure, where the Ironcycle Test Run roller coaster failed to open during the ship’s first voyages. In that case, passengers received onboard credit automatically applied to their staterooms. Guests on the current Disney Treasure sailing have received nothing comparable so far.

Disney Cruise Line has not publicly acknowledged the AquaMouse closure or addressed whether compensation is being considered. The current voyage wraps up May 30, at which point the Disney Treasure departs on a Western Caribbean sailing — also out of Port Canaveral — with stops in Cozumel, Mexico; Grand Cayman Island; Falmouth, Jamaica; and Disney’s Castaway Cay. Whether AquaMouse will be operational for that cruise remains unknown.
