Walt Disney said that Disney Parks will never be completed as long as there is imagination left in the world. And Disney Imagineers are always hard at work on coming up with new ideas to make the Parks even more immersive. One of the ways that Disney is doing that is by imagining what the world is beyond Big Thunder Mountain Railroad in Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom Park.
At the Parks Panel at Disney’s D23 convention, Disney Parks Chairman Josh’D’Amaro shared that Imagineers are working to discover what lies beyond Big Thunder. And one of the places is Miguel’s hometown in Mexico.
D’Amaro shared that — while it is only in the early concept stages — Disney Imagineers are working on bringing Coco to life in a whole new way. Guests will be transported to Miguel’s hometown, where they are celebrating Dia De Los Muertos — or the Day of the Dead. And who knows, you may even be able to fly on the back of an Alebrije!
When it comes to the mind of Disney Imagineers, the possibilities are endless and dreams have no limit.
In addition to the Coco area being teased, Imagineers also teased an Encanto-themed area where will could see Mirabel, her family, and even Casa Madrigal. Perhaps, best of all, overlooking both the Coco and Encanto areas, as well as Big Thunder Mountain, will be a villain’s area! That’s right, some of your favorite villains may be getting their very own part of the Magic Kingdom!
Again, this is all speculation, and was merely teased by D’Amaro and the Imagineers. However, with the concept art that was shown, before long, it may be more of a reality than a far-off dream.
