Fans are feeling conflicted about this change…
Halloween at Disneyland Resort is a magical time of year when the park transforms into a spooktacular wonderland. From haunted attractions to festive decorations and special events, there’s something for everyone to enjoy during the Halloween season at Disneyland Resort.
Disneyland Resort, located in Anaheim, California, goes all out for Halloween Time. The resort includes two theme parks, Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park, both of which are fully decked out come Halloween season.
Disneyland Delights With Halloween Festivities
One of the highlights of Halloween at Disneyland Resort is the Oogie Boogie Bash at Disney California Adventure Park. This after-hours event is filled with thrilling entertainment, delicious food, and spooky spectaculars. A main draw for the event is that Guests can also enjoy trick-or-treating at various “treat trail” locations throughout the park, encountering Disney villains along the way.
The treat trails at Disney California Adventure Park are a favorite attraction for Guests of all ages attending an Oogie Boogie Bash event. Disney describes the event, saying;
“Enjoy the park’s most bewitching season and head down our trick-or-treat trails for collecting sweets and a face-to-face with some of storytelling’s most legendary misfits, the Disney villains!
Each trail lures Guests deeper into the immersive worlds of the mischievous Characters everyone loves to fear. It’s a howl-o-ween adventure filled with frightfully delightful fun for all ages!
Trick-or-treat trails feature an assortment of candy, including M&M’S®, SKITTLES®, SNICKERS® and other Halloween favorites.”

Typically, Guests can walk away with bags and bags full of enough candy to last them for months. However, Guests are now seeing some snacks swapped for healthy alternatives.
Has Halloween Gone Healthy?!
For candy-crazy young children, the thought of healthy snacks on Halloween seems almost offensive. To open your trick-or-treating back expecting candy and to receive instead… an apple… is not what children want. However, that is exactly what Disneyland Resort is doing.
While this addition might not be popular with some of the younger fans, others are rejoicing in this addition. Having healthy options is not only great for adults but also makes trick-or-treating more accessible for those with special diets.
One fan praises the healthy treat trails in a Reddit post, saying;
“UNPOPULAR OPINION: I enjoy the fact that Disneyland hands out carrot sticks, apple sauce, grapes, etc. during Oogie Boogie Bash.
I know that there is a stigma around giving out “healthy” treats while Trick-Or-Treating, but I really enjoy the variety. It isn’t like Disney isn’t handing out a bunch of candy either.
I get that most kids just want all the sugar-loaded treats that they don’t have free-access to the rest of the year, but I love all the different finds. I thoroughly enjoy munching on a bag of carrots between chocolate bars. I love the Craisins they had the one year.
What about you? What “unconventional” treat would you enjoy finding in your basket?
I think a bag of chips or one of those packets with crackers & cheese would be fun as well just to switch it up…”
UNPOPULAR OPINION: I love the non-candy items given out during Oogie Boogie Bash.

If you don’t like the sound of a candy-less Disney Halloween, do not fear. Disney is still offering plenty of it. Embracing options is just one of the many things that makes this Disney Park such a special place for every Guest.
