You deserve a summer treat! There is an abundance of delicious desserts, unique drinks and some of the best snacks at Walt Disney World year-round. Disney food in unmatched and seasonal offerings are a big part of menus at quick-service eateries in the Parks and table service restaurants around Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resort. We love sampling different treats on different trips.

What could be better than a yummy summer treat on a hot summer day? Some of our favorites are on this list, and some are new additions to Walt Disney World Resort for summer 2022. Be sure to check this list out before your next Disney vacation. Here is a list of Disney summer treats you should try!

Key Lime Milkshake

This new menu item has my tropical-flavor-loving heart fluttering! A tart and delicious Key Lime Milkshake is a new addition to the Hollywood Scoops menu in Hollywood Studios! A new addition to the menu as of June 1, 2022, this shake is one of the first sweet treats I will snag during my summer visit to Walt Disney World. The sweetness of a shake merging with the iconic Florida flavor of fresh key lime is sure to be a hit with Park goers and will make for a great afternoon treat.

Not to mention, this is one of the most Instagrammable treats to drop in a while. A pastel green shake in a cup studded with the violet silhouettes of iconic Disney characters makes for an adorable photo. Even better, the shake is topped with a graham cracker crust and whipped cream ring and garnished with a lemon-lime doughnut. The doughnut is adorable in and of itself with a key lime drip frosting, crumbled cake, and white chocolate sprinkles scattered atop the pastry!

Dole Whip

There’s a good reason that Dole Whips are continually on best-of lists, snack lists, ice cream lists, etc. you get the point. They really are just that good. This Disney snack is an iconic classic that is well known as a Disney Park staple. I am a self-proclaimed ice cream lover, but sometimes it just feels too hot to enjoy ice cream during a day at the Magic Kingdom. That said, I find Dole Whips to be a lighter and more satisfying cold treat than some other ice creams in the Park.

Visit Sunshine Tree Terrace in Adventureland in the Magic Kingdom or Pineapple Lanai at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort to enjoy a Dole Whip if you are in or near Magic Kingdom Park. If you are visiting Disney Springs, don’t skip a stop at Swirls on the Water. Located near the Rainforest Café in the Marketplace section of Disney Springs, this stand serves up Dole Whips to Guests.

That’s right, you heard me correctly. You don’t even have to purchase a ticket to the Magic Kingdom to enjoy a Dole Whip. Snag a classic Dole Whip soft-serve, Dole Whip float, adult Dole Whip float, or specialty mix that blends flavors and adds fun toppings. Regardless of the iteration of Dole Whip you choose, do yourself a favor and try one this summer.

Cold Brew Black Caf

Bright Suns Travelers! Frequent readers know I love my coffee– specifically iced coffee and cold brew. So of course, I was overjoyed to learn about the new coffee additions to Star Wars – Galaxy’s Edge. If you are in Hollywood Studios, drop by Kat Saka’s Kettle to try the Cold Brew Black Caf.

This is no ordinary theme park coffee. This coffee concoction is Joffrey’s Cold Brew, with sweet cream cheese foam, and delicious cocoa puffs for garnish. Also available is the new Spiked Cold Brew Caf, which is the same thing but better- as it also includes a shot of Godiva liqueur!

Salt and Straw Ice Cream

There’s a new ice cream spot at Disney Springs that is a must-visit. This family-run scoop shop got its start in Oregon and has been quite a hit at Disney Springs. Because this company is founded on the belief that collaborations with chefs, farmers, and fresh products are key — you’ll always find fresh and new seasonal flavors to enjoy at Salt and Straw.

Of course, seasonal flavors will vary based on when you visit, but some flavors I am dying to try this summer are…Rhubarb crumble with toasted anise. Jasmine milk tea and the pistachio rosewater with strawberry mochi. Think summery, floral, and fruity, and you have some excellent options to enjoy from the seasonal menu.

If none of these sounds like your thing, try classic flavors like sea salt with caramel ribbons, honey lavender, or the more adventurous but equally delicious strawberry honey balsamic with black pepper. Gourmet ice cream makes for a great summer treat.

Cheshire Cat Wildberry Mousse

This new addition to the Gasparilla Island Grill at Grand Floridian Resort is almost too cute to eat. This Cheshire Cat Wildberry Mousse is a light and summery dessert you will not want to miss. Mousse is always delicious, but is the star of the show in summer, when it’s too hot to indulge in heavy desserts.

This dessert is comprised of a flavorful berry compote and swirled Wildberry mousse and topped with purple cake crumbles and a white chocolate Cheshire cat face. Talk about an adorable and colorful dessert, this fits the bill. Be sure to snap a photo before digging in!

Orange Bird Cake Pop

Orange Bird has been in the spotlight this year for the 50th Anniversary of Walt Disney World. A relic of the past and a representative of Adventureland’s Sunshine Tree Terrace, Orange Bird is an adorable cartoon that is surging in popularity and finding his way onto food and merchandise around the property.

You can snag an Orange Bird Cake Pop from Gasparilla Island Grill at Grand Floridian Resort. Orange Bird is perched at the base of a bright striped straw with his signature orange leaves atop his head. The cake pop is made of yellow cake and covered in citrus buttercream icing.

Such a great collection of new additions and tried and true dessert classics makes me want to push my Disney vacation even closer. Is there a summer treat you can’t wait to try at Walt Disney World Resort?

About Katie Chapman

Hey There! I am a Georgia native with a passion for writing, traveling, cooking, decorating, pugs and of course all things Disney. Growing up in South Georgia just a few hours from Walt Disney World made for a magical childhood. Some of my best memories were made on Main Street U.S.A. with my sister watching SpectroMagic nighttime parade or beside my grandparents, parents and extended family at Chef Mickey’s celebrating on a family vacation. Epcot was my favorite park from a young age and I credit it with my interest in and love for international travel. As a kid I loved meeting characters and watching films around World Showcase and could spend hours exploring each of the countries in Epcot. These days, my husband and I get away to explore a new country whenever we can and even incorporate trips to The Disney Store and Disney Parks around the world in our travels. One of our travel goals is to visit every Disney Park in the world. I love writing about Disney restaurants, park tips, Disney outfit inspiration and Disney history. Pocahontas is my favorite Disney Princess (90s kid here!) but Mr. Toad is my spirit animal. When I’m not at Disney I’m reading about park history, watching Disney documentaries and shopping vintage Disney merch for park outfits. I never pass up a reservation to Ohana, an empty seat on Living with the Land or a Violet Sake.
