Disney Springs is home to some of the best dining at the Walt Disney World Resort. Many celebrity Chefs have found a home here, which means don’t ask us to pick a favorite Disney Springs restaurant. It’s all amazing. From Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin’ to Morimoto Asia and even Chicken Guy, you’ll find something for every taste and budget.
It’s not just celebrity chefs who have set up shop at Disney Springs. Several popular restaurants from around the country have added a location at Disney World’s dining and shopping district. Gideon’s Bakehouse is one of them and happens to be one of the most popular spots to grab a treat at Walt Disney World. Guests get in hours-long virtual queues for one of Gideon’s delicious cookies.
On August 31, the restaurant had to close abruptly due to equipment failure. It wasn’t the mixers or the ovens that were faulty. It was the air-conditioning. With temperatures in the 80s with humidity percentages to match, operating the hot ovens in the bakehouse would have been miserable. Gideon’s Bakehouse kept everyone updated via their official Instagram account and posted status updates as they dealt with the situation.
They had hoped to be back up and running on Saturday, September 2, but sadly, they remained closed as the AC situation proved to be more complicated than initially thought.
Temperatures inside the store continued to climb as the store was without air-conditioning. Even their spooky candles melted it was so hot!
Thankfully, today, Sunday, September 3, 2023, Gideons Bakehouse at Disney Springs is OPEN once again! We are thrilled that they are back baking up their signature small-batch half-pound cookies (you read that right: half pound cookies)! Since everyone knows Disney calories don’t count, stop by Gideon’s Bakehouse today and find out what all of the fuss is about!
