If you’ve been to EPCOT lately, you’ve noticed that we’re starting to get closer to removing those construction barriers that have been obstructing sightlines for what seems like forever. Behind some of those walls is a new Moana-themed attraction slated to open later in 2023. The latest EPCOT addition will be located in World Nature and is “dedicated to understanding and preserving the beauty and balance of the natural world.” Journey of Water will be a self-guided tour for Guests to experience and learn about the life cycle of water. Guests will be able to interact with water in a way that gives it a personality, much like we’ve seen in “Moana” (2016).
Today, Disney shared new images of testing taking place at the attraction by Imagineers and we’re extremely excited to share them with you. Via Scott Gustin on Twitter, it looks as if the new Park additions are near completion. We also get a better idea of when we can expect the attraction to open as it is quoted for “later this Fall.” Guests should be excited as they will be able to play with the water in the attraction. By the looks of the testing photos, this will be done based on hand and arm movements.

More About Changes Coming to EPCOT
Journey of Water is part of a much larger renovation project that has been going on at EPCOT for some time. This area of EPCOT, World Celebration, will also see the completion of Communicore Hall and Communicore Plaza soon, along with Dreamer’s Point and more. These new areas will host most festival activities around the year as well as be the basis for Mickey and Minnie meet and greets in the park. It should also be noted that refurbishment for Spaceship Earth has been in talks for a while now.
There’s a lot of exciting things happening at EPCOT, and we’re excited to see what the future holds for the park. Continuing the tradition of innovation and advancement is part of EPCOT’s legacy and what Walt wanted for the original idea, so we’re happy to see Imagineers following through on that legacy. So many amazing updates are still on the horizon, so stay tuned!
