You might not see it blasted across billboards or advertised in big bold letters, but EPCOT’s Test Track is making its comeback—and a select group of Disney guests will get to ride it before anyone else.
That’s right. Test Track is officially reopening on July 22, 2025, after a lengthy closure and total reimagining. But if you’re one of the lucky few, you could be strapping in for the ride days or even weeks before it opens to the general public.
So, Who Gets Early Access?
This sneak preview opportunity isn’t something you can just book through the standard channels. Disney is opening the doors early—but only for specific groups. If you’re a Cast Member, Annual Passholder, Disney Vacation Club Member, Club 33 Member, or a resident of the exclusive Golden Oak community, then congrats—you’re on the list.
While Disney hasn’t shared the exact preview dates yet, these kinds of perks are typically announced through email or the My Disney Experience app. So if you’re part of one of those groups, it’s time to start checking your notifications religiously.
A New Ride Experience Worth the Wait
Fans have been waiting patiently since 2024 for Test Track to return, and it’s not coming back the same. The ride has received a full overhaul, both visually and emotionally.
Presented once again by General Motors, this updated version will immerse riders in a futuristic driving experience. One of the coolest additions? A scene where guests view the road from the perspective of a high-tech vehicle, complete with tens of thousands of lights simulating modern sensor technology. Think of it like stepping inside a car’s brain.
There’s also a new soundtrack, reworked story elements, and a theme that goes beyond speed and vehicle testing—it’s about the journey, the adventure, and the stories created on the road.
Planning to Ride After the Official Opening?
Even if you’re not one of the early-access guests, Test Track’s reopening is right around the corner. The ride opens to all EPCOT guests starting July 22. But expect heavy interest when it does—this is one of the park’s most popular attractions, and demand will be through the roof.
Whether Disney opts to include the ride in a virtual queue or just Lightning Lane remains to be seen, but either way, it’s smart to plan ahead. The standby wait could easily stretch over an hour, especially in the first few weeks.
Another Big Step in EPCOT’s Transformation
The return of Test Track is one more piece of the puzzle in EPCOT’s years-long refresh. Over the past few years, Disney has introduced Journey of Water – Inspired by Moana, the thrilling Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, and the new nighttime show Luminous: The Symphony of Us.
Bringing Test Track back—especially with this kind of upgrade—keeps EPCOT’s front half feeling fresh and exciting, which has been a big part of the park’s transformation goals.
