Disney Park Abruptly Announces Entire Ride Experience Will Change Daily After 7PM

A Disney park is set to transform one of its most popular attractions daily after 7 p.m. in a sudden new update.

Disney has no shortage of fan-favorite attractions across the globe. While classics such as “it’s a small world,” Pirates of the Caribbean, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, and Dumbo the Flying Elephant can be found at multiple parks worldwide, certain cult classics are much more rare, such as Crush’s Coaster at Walt Disney Studios Park and Journey to the Center of the Earth at Tokyo DisneySea.

One of Disney’s most beloved rides is inspired by the Walt Disney Animation modern classic Big Hero 6 (2014). The Happy Ride with Baymax opened at Tokyo Disneyland’s Tomorrowland in September 2020, replacing the former Star Jets attraction and debuting as the first Disney ride themed to the movie.

This whip-style spinning ride features Baymax-themed vehicles pulled by nursebot companions, synchronized lighting, and six original songs designed to boost guests’ moods through music and motion.

What began as a whimsical addition has grown into a full-blown phenomenon among Tokyo Disneyland fans. Cast members perform semi-choreographed dances in time with the music, often sparking spontaneous group participation in the queue and surrounding area.

This infectious energy has earned the attraction a cult-like following, with visitors returning just to join the impromptu dance parties – even if they’re not riding. (We can attest to this fact, having discovered on a recent visit that the vibe around The Happy Ride with Baymax at night is more akin to a club than your standard Disney park experience.)

They say you shouldn’t mess with a good thing – but Tokyo Disneyland is doing exactly that.

As of August 1, The Happy Ride with Baymax will replace its soundtrack with a limited-time song by Japanese rock band Mrs. Green Apple.

While the song has been part of The Happy Ride with Baymax’s regular playlist since July 1, Tokyo Disneyland now plays it exclusively on the ride each evening after 7 p.m., transforming the attraction into a nightly celebration centered around the new track.

This new experience will continue daily until September 15 as part of The Happy Ride with Baymax – Special Version.

Guests hoping to experience this for themselves should prepare for a lengthy wait. The Happy Ride with Baymax often attracts some of the longest lines in the park, rivalled only by Enchanted Tale of Beauty and the Beast. While guests can purchase Disney Premier Access (Tokyo Disney Resort’s equivalent of Lightning Lanes), these can and do sell out.

The updated version of the ride is just one small part of Tokyo Disney Resort’s Summer Cool-off celebration. This also includes a wetter version of Splash Mountain, a unique parade called Baymax’s Mission: Cool Down in which guests are routinely splashed with water, and a summer version of Country Bear Jamboree.
