Disney Movie to Make Big Splash in Theaters

Many Disney fans prepare to head to the theatres as a beloved movie returns to the big screen. Moana (2016) will return to select U.S. theaters from October 13 to 26, 2023.

This is part of the Disney100 celebration this year and into 2024. For 100 years, the Walt Disney Company and Walt Disney Animation Studios have been bringing stories to generations year after year. New decor, merchandise, and entertainment have been brought to the Disney Parks for the celebration, and now a beloved movie is heading back to the big screen.

Moana

When Moana first hit the theatres in 2016, Disney fans fell in love quickly with the movie. The strong will and determination of this Disney princess were appealing to many viewers. Dwayne Johnson became even more popular with fans by bringing Maui to life.

The story follows Moana on a wild adventure to save her community, filled with excitement and emotion. The original film is a great family movie full of excellent music and fantastic characters.

Rumors around a live action Moana take on the film have circulated for a while. Although we would love to see The Rock as Maui in a live-action remake, Disney has yet to show much interest. The animated film is still highly young by Disney standards, which could be why they aren’t rushing towards a remake.

Even though some live-action remakes have done well for Disney in the past, some have been almost disasters. At this point, we will be happy with the opportunity to watch Maui and Moana on their adventures on the big screen.

Journey of Water: Inspired by Moana

Journey of Water: Inspired by Moana is slowly opening in EPCOT as part of the Disney100 celebration. Disney officially lists the soft opening for this attraction on October 15 and 16. Still, many guests have already been able to walk through it during their visit to EPCOT.

This attraction is focused on the importance of water throughout the world. Guests can either get wet or take the dry path as they explore this world. Te Fiti is larger than life and a magical part of this attraction.

Moana Meet and Greet

Also found in EPCOT is the new Moana meet and greet. It has been a while since those visiting Walt Disney World have been able to get pictures with the passionate Moana. This beloved character interaction is back with the opening of Journey of Water: Inspired by Moana.

Disney has announced that Moana will welcome guests to the new area as part of Journey of Water: Inspired by Moana. Moana will have a special meet and greet area across from the attraction. We have already seen Moana meeting guests, but officially, she will begin on October 16.

We love all the excitement that continues around Moana. From the Disney parks and cruises to the big screen, Moana and her friends bring magic to everyone.

I started introducing my love for Disney early to my family with a Disney honeymoon and then trips when our youngest of 18 months. Since then, our family has been to Walt Disney World over five times and we continue to plan and dream for the next… More »
