The month of March marks the month when we celebrate Women’s History Month. All month long, we will celebrate the incredible accomplishments and contributions Women have given to the world. The Walt Disney Company has plenty of women they can celebrate for Women’s History Month, which is why Guests are left confused after this year’s Guest of honor was announced.

Disney Reveals Plans for Women’s History Month

Typically, Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort both plan an incredible lineup of ways to celebrate Women’s History Month. Women contribute so much to the company, so it’s not difficult to find many ways to celebrate them. In past years, Disney has provided some incredible initiatives to the Parks during the month of March.

Last year, Disney launched the Celebrate HER Story, which was a lovely tribute to incredible female Disney contributors. Guests of the Park left feeling inspired by their stories. In years before that, Disney has paid homage to female Disney Imagineers, Chefs, and other Disney legends. This year, Disney has something more… unique… up their sleeve.

Womens History Month Features Unexpected Guest

This year, Disney Springs at Walt Disney World Resort will welcome a special Guest for International Womens Day… the Brown M&M candy. Guests visiting the area will have the opportunity to grab a photo with Ms. Brown outside the M&M store. Ms. Brown is a unique choice for a Women’s History Month meet and greet, and fans are feeling uncomfortable about the situation.

During a month that is full of so much history, it feels so careless to have a piece of chocolate be a representative of women. This month is about inclusion, celebrating female heroes, and history, not about a quick photo op with an M&M. A lot of people are left feeling very baffled by this occurrence at the Disney Resort. After all, it’s not like Disney doesn’t have any other female characters to highlight during this month. The Walt Disney Company has not commented on the backlash as of now, and the meet and greets are continuing as scheduled.
