Disney Has Changed – “No Longer a Family Park”

Disney just isn’t the same anymore. At first glance, everything seems just like you remember. The castle is still gleaming, the background music tugs at your heart, and cast members are as friendly as ever. But as the day goes on, something starts to feel… off.

The parks look the same, sure, but something underneath feels different. Families are picking up on this, too, quietly asking the same question: What’s going on here? Where did that old-school Disney magic go, and why does it feel like something else has taken its place?

We’ll give you a hint: it’s not just the crazy prices.

Families Feel the Squeeze

It’s no secret that prices are through the roof. From Lightning Lane access to $20 snacks, the cost of a Disney vacation has become hard to justify for many families. Add in the fact that classic attractions keep disappearing, and the nostalgia factor is shrinking fast.

Parents ask the same question: “Is this still worth it?” But that is not the biggest or newest issue right now.

Disney’s Newest Problem

Look around and you’ll notice a shift. Instead of families soaking in the moment, you’re more likely to see guests staging a photo shoot by the purple wall or walking backwards while filming a Reel. Tripods are everywhere. Snacks are posed for photos long before they’re eaten—if they’re eaten at all.

It’s not that social media is ruining Disney—it’s that it’s slowly taken over the purpose of being there. Guests used to come for the memories.

Now? It’s about being first, going viral on TikTok, and creating content. That “in-the-moment” magic has been replaced by carefully curated feeds, choreographed videos, and the pressure to make it all look perfect online, even if it’s chaotic in real life.

Chasing Magic or Trends

There’s also a constant rush to get the perfect shot, try every trending snack, and be the first to post about new experiences. It’s less about enjoying the moment and more about keeping up—and that pressure is exhausting for families.

The Magic Isn’t Gone, But…

Sure, kids are still hugging Mickey, and some families still leave with unforgettable stories. But more and more, Disney World feels like it’s drifting away from its roots.

Between influencer culture, constant change, and the pressure to experience everything first, the parks just don’t feel as centered around families as they once were.

Disney hasn’t stopped being magical, but the version of magic they’re selling today feels like it’s made for likes, not laughter.

  1. Unfortunately, that is all from the social media area, and it doesn’t help that everything to do and see is run by that on your phone. When I go places, other than a picture once in a while, my phone doesn’t come out. Time for Disney to say enough is enough but as long as people fork out, they aren’t going to. Very sad.
