Disney Guest’s Offensive Gesture Sparks Outrage and Ban Demands

Disneyland, often referred to as “The Happiest Place on Earth,” is a destination that represents joy, wonder, and safety for millions of guests every year. However, for one visitor, that sense of safety was deeply shaken during a recent visit to Disneyland Resort in Southern California.

A troubling incident involving a fellow guest’s behavior has sparked outrage and a wave of calls for action across social media.

Reddit user Moist-Cloud2412 took to the platform to share her unsettling experience at Disney California Adventure’s Avengers Campus. During her ride on Guardians of the Galaxy — Mission: BREAKOUT!, she encountered a guest whose actions left her feeling devastated and angry.

In a Reddit post that has since gone viral, the user described how the man seated next to her appeared to perform a “Sieg Heil” salute, a gesture infamously associated with Nazi Germany and hate speech.

In her Reddit post, Moist-Cloud2412 explained:

“Disneyland is my Happy Safe Place. But on my last day, this happened.

I did call him out on doing it. He tried to claim he tried to have both hands up, but it’s clear his opposite hand was firmly at his side, and his extended hand was firmly straight. I have emailed guest services as I didn’t want to expend spoons on my last day to deal with it.

I am extremely sad over this. I am fearful of the only safe space I have, no longer being safe.

But at least I did say something to his face and called him out. His girlfriend was just like, ‘We can’t show this picture now.’

But I will share it to expose him.”

The original poster’s decision to speak out has been met with an outpouring of support from the online community. The post garnered thousands of upvotes and sparked a heated discussion in the comments section.

Many users expressed their disgust and shared their hopes that Disney would take swift and decisive action against the individual involved.

“This makes me so sick. You are so brave and strong calling him out, and you did the right thing,” one commenter wrote. Another added, “I do hope Disney bans this guy.”

Adding to the discourse, some commenters noted the irony of the man wearing a t-shirt for the band Switchfoot, a Christian rock group whose music often promotes love, acceptance, and equality. One user wrote:

“Jon [Foreman] and the group have always been consistent in behavior and values and seem like really genuine human beings and the true epitome of authentic California surfer hippies who just love other people. I know they would hate to see this association. It’s wild this guy listens to their music but missed the point of their lyrics entirely.”

The Reddit post also revealed that the OP had reported the incident to Disney’s Guest Services. Additionally, other commenters stated that they had taken screenshots of the ride photo and reported the individual to Disney, urging the company to issue a lifetime ban.

Disney has a strong stance against hate speech and discriminatory behavior, and many guests believe the company should act decisively to ensure the parks remain safe and welcoming spaces for everyone.

Guests are encouraged to report any behavior that makes them feel unsafe to the nearest Cast Member or Disney security. “Everyone has the right to feel safe while at Disneyland Resort,” the Reddit poster added.

As this incident continues to gain attention online, it underscores the importance of holding individuals accountable for their actions, even in places designed to be havens of happiness and inclusivity.

Disneyland’s reputation as a place where dreams come true depends on the collective effort of its guests and staff to uphold its values of kindness, acceptance, and respect for all.
