Anyone who has ever visited Walt Disney World Resort or Disneyland Resort during the summer will know that the parks can be no joke when it gets hot outside. Every year, the summer-time heat can easily become a health concern for guests if not properly managed with water and shade.

Unfortunately, one guest’s lack of self-care led to such an incident. A solo guest at Disneyland Resort experienced a frightening moment of dehydration while on the Matterhorn Bobsleds ride, but thanks to the swift actions of cast members, the situation was handled with care and compassion.

Guest Faints from Dehydration at Disneyland Resort, Praises Cast Members for Their Quick Response

The incident occurred earlier today when the guest, who had decided to visit the park on a day off, found themselves overwhelmed by the sun and heat. In a heartfelt message shared on social media, the guest recounted the ordeal:

“Today I was one of the dehydrated idiots. Decided to do a quick solo trip as I had the day off. For my first ride, I hopped in the single-rider line for Matterhorn and could feel the sun beating down on my already dehydrated body. Right when I got to the front I knew I was on the brink of passing out, I actually threw up right there. I vocalized this and asked to exit.”

The guest’s experience highlights a serious concern for parkgoers during hot weather, where dehydration can quickly become an issue. Fortunately, the Disneyland Resort team responded promptly and effectively. The guest continued:

“The CM took the extra step to sit me down and bring me ice water. She and her lead Ashley were absolutely amazing; they took every precaution to ensure I was okay. They were beyond willing to help in any way.”

The Cast Members involved, including a CM named Ashley, provided essential assistance by offering ice water and ensuring the guest received the necessary care. The guest’s social media post expressed deep gratitude:

“I just wanted to thank Ashley and the other CM so much, hopefully, you see this. ❤️You saved me from passing out, you guys do not get the credit you deserve. Thank you CMs for always going above and beyond; you truly are the heart of the park.”

A Cautionary Tale

Dehydration at Disney can quickly dampen the magic of your visit if you’re not prepared. Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World, with its vast grounds and numerous attractions, can easily lead to guests overlooking the importance of staying hydrated.

One way to ensure you stay hydrated at Disney is by taking advantage of the various water sources available throughout the parks. From water fountains to refill stations, Disney has made it convenient for guests to access water.

Carrying a reusable water bottle and refilling it regularly is not only eco-friendly but also a practical way to stay hydrated during your visit. Additionally, some quick-service restaurants offer complimentary ice water upon request, allowing you to quench your thirst without extra cost.

In the midst of all the excitement, it can be easy to forget to drink enough water. Heat exhaustion is a real concern, especially when combined with the physical activity of walking around the parks all day. Knowing the signs of dehydration, such as dizziness, fatigue, and dry mouth, is crucial for your well-being. If you start feeling unwell, don’t hesitate to seek out aid stations or first aid centers located throughout the Disney parks.
