Mickey Mouse has spent decades as the most famous mouse at Walt Disney World, but he recently had some unexpected competition at EPCOT.
Guests visiting CommuniCore Hall were in the middle of what appeared to be a normal character experience when something much smaller entered the picture. A real mouse suddenly raced through the meet-and-greet area, sending guests into a mixture of screams and laughter.
The timing couldn’t have been much better.
Not only did the mouse appear inside a Disney theme park, but Mickey and Goofy were standing nearby as the unexpected visitor ran through the area.
Naturally, Disney fans immediately knew what to call it: Remy.
A Normal EPCOT Meet-and-Greet Takes a Strange Turn
The encounter happened inside CommuniCore Hall at EPCOT, where guests were visiting Mickey and Goofy.
Video of the incident shows the small mouse quickly moving through the area as people react around it. Guests can be heard shrieking as they realize what is running across the floor.
Mickey and Goofy were caught in the middle of everything.
Mickey appeared to put his hand over his mouth while watching what was happening. Goofy, meanwhile, seemed to carefully avoid stepping on the mouse as it moved nearby.
It created a scene that almost looked like Disney had planned it as part of the character interaction.
Except this wasn’t another costumed character.
It was an actual mouse.
Seeing that happen anywhere at Walt Disney World would probably get some attention. Having it happen within sight of Mickey Mouse takes the story to another level.
Social Media Decides Remy Has Arrived
The video was shared by ducksito_magictravels on Instagram, where the caption joked that the travelers had encountered Remy himself at EPCOT.

That comparison wasn’t exactly difficult for Disney fans to make.
Remy already has a major presence at EPCOT thanks to Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure in the France pavilion. The attraction is inspired by Ratatouille (2007) and puts guests into Remy’s world as they experience the restaurant from his tiny perspective.
This time, EPCOT guests didn’t have to travel to the France pavilion for their unexpected rodent encounter.
People in the comments also joined in with comparisons to Remy. The Instagram post had generated more than 12,600 likes and hundreds of comments when captured in the supplied material.
It’s the kind of bizarre Disney World moment that social media was practically made for.
Disney World Doesn’t Always Go According to Plan
Of course, seeing a real mouse running through an indoor guest area probably wasn’t on anyone’s EPCOT itinerary.
Disney World vacations can involve months of preparation. Families choose hotels, buy tickets, make dining reservations, plan Lightning Lane selections, and decide which attractions deserve priority.
Then something completely unexpected happens and becomes one of the stories everyone remembers.
This group of guests may have arrived at CommuniCore Hall expecting pictures with Mickey and Goofy. Instead, they got Mickey, Goofy, and an unexpected third mouse.
The irony alone makes the video difficult to ignore.
Wildlife can occasionally make an appearance around Walt Disney World, especially considering the enormous amount of property the resort occupies in Central Florida. Still, there is a big difference between spotting an animal outdoors and watching a mouse race through an indoor character area.
Fortunately for social media viewers, somebody had a camera ready.
The result was a Disney World moment that almost seems too perfectly timed to be real.
Mickey Mouse was there. Goofy was there. A real mouse suddenly appeared. And EPCOT is home to an entire attraction starring Disney and Pixar’s most famous culinary rat.
Remy may officially live over in the France pavilion, but according to Disney fans online, he apparently decided it was time to explore the rest of EPCOT.
