An inappropriate shirt worn by a Disneyland Resort guest recently sparked a dress code debate among Disney Parks fans. This comes two years after a social media trend encouraged guests to intentionally violate Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort’s attire policies to receive a free t-shirt.
In 2022, numerous videos of guests wearing tie-front or bikini-style tops into the Disney parks went viral. The Disney dress code prohibits such attire, so the guests were asked to change or leave. However, Disney cast members offered some guests a voucher for a complimentary shirt.
The trend spread like wildfire, and The Walt Disney Company swiftly changed course. When other influencers attempted the “dress code” trend, they were forced to return to their Disney Resort hotels or buy a replacement shirt. To this day, Disney cast members seldom give out free shirt vouchers to inappropriately dressed guests.
Some Disney Parks fans used the trend as a jumping-off point for deeper conversations about the theme parks’ attire policies. In multiple incidents, some social media users were upset that men were allowed into Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort wearing profane or political items while women were more frequently targeted for revealing clothing. Others felt that Disney parks should police revealing clothing more.
This week, the dress code conversation reignited on Reddit when u/LisayaMani posted that they saw a Disneyland Resort guest in an “I ❤️ Boobs” shirt.
“What in the world would possess someone to wake up and think, “Hey! I’m going to Disneyland today. A place full of families and kids…I got the perfect shirt for this!’” the Disney Park guest wrote.
Other Disney Parks fans shared their examples of attire they wished they hadn’t seen.
“I saw a guy wearing “I ❤️ the ‘d” in the Disney Font,” u/DRD7989 commented.
“There was a group of people, including females, wearing the meme shirt of the dude with his girl passing by another girl and he’s checking her out – except it was Minnie Mouse checking out another character and Mickey was the girlfriend getting played, and the text on the shirt was ‘These hoes ain’t loyal,’” u/ShaftTassle recalled. “Bruh.”
Still, some said other guests shouldn’t care what a stranger wears to Disneyland Park, Disney California Adventure Park, or Downtown Disney.
“That’s somehow offensive to some people?” u/xraig88 asked. “What’s wrong with boobs?”
“Stop being so soft and just mind your business,” u/Boring-Falcon3185 replied.
