Disney Dining Options to Treat Mom Like a Queen This Mother’s Day

I am fortunate to have a mother who loves Walt Disney World as much as I do.  She and I took our first Mommy/Daughter trip to Walt Disney World when I was 14 years old.  I remember staying at All Star Sports again, because that’s where we had stayed the previous year when we went with the entire family.  Unfortunately, that’s about all that I remember about that trip.  Flash forward to 2006, and it was again time for a Mother/Daughter trip to the World.  This was our first all-adult trip to Disney.  We were finally able to relax, take in the sights and sounds of the parks, and, of course, participate in our first Drinking Tour around the World Showcase in EPCOT.  There’s nothing like spoiling your mom with a Bellini from the Italy Pavilion, a crepe from France, and a margarita in Mexico.

Our mothers treat their families like royalty day in and day out, so it is only proper to treat her like the queen she is on Mother’s Day.  If you are lucky enough to be in Walt Disney World on mom’s most special day, there are many dining events from which to choose to spoil your mother and give her a day that is fit for a queen.

Breakfast Buffet at Boma

You can start mom’s special day with a breakfast buffet at Boma, which is located in the lower level of Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge.  This special menu will feature South African inspired dishes, as well as the typical breakfast menu, including omelets, carving stations, pastries, and fresh fruit.  After breakfast, you can enjoy a walk with mom around the grounds of the resort to look at the animals.  The grounds of Animal Kingdom Lodge tend to give you a better look at many of the animals you might see on the Safari in Animal Kingdom.

Captain’s Grille Mother’s Day Brunch

If mom loves seafood, be sure to take her to the Mother’s Day Brunch at Captain’s Grille located in Disney’s Yacht Club Resort.  The breakfast items on this brunch buffet include an omelet station, eggs, breakfast meats and pastries, and the always exciting Mickey waffles!  Save room for lunch, though, because this buffet is full of seafood specialties.  Your lunch selections include peel-and-eat shrimp, crab cakes, salads and vegetable sides, and a sirloin carving station for the meat lover in your party.  Once you’ve had your fill of this buffet, enjoy a walk on the Boardwalk and try your luck on winning mom a prize at one of the carnival games.  Or you could take a relaxing boat ride to the International Gateway to the World Showcase and treat mom to her favorite drink or snack in the World Showcase.

Chef Mickey’s

For mothers who just can’t enjoy a day for themselves without making sure the kids are entertained too then Chef Mickey’s is a good choice.  This All-American Brunch is sure to please the pickiest of palates with eggs, omelets, French toast and the like served alongside lunchtime favorites of steak, chicken, and fish.  The main event, though, is all of the face time mom can get with the gang as you are sure to see Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Donald, and Goofy!  If time permits, try to find the five-legged blue goat in the Contemporary’s mosaic, or hop the Monorail, and take mom on a tour of all of the monorail resorts.

Cinderella’s Royal Table

If you really want to treat mom like a queen, then be sure to grab a table in the castle at Cinderella’s Royal Table.  Her Majesty (mom) will be able to make the acquaintance of fellow royalty, including Cinderella, Snow White, Ariel, and many other members of the Disney Princess family.  Mom can decide which meal she would like to eat, as Cinderella’s Royal Table offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner dining options.  The Caramel Apple Stuffed French Toast is a hit at breakfast, lunch has a delicious chocolate cake dessert, and dinner has a wonderful roasted chicken.  I do suggest trying for a later dinner reservation, though.  You can request a table by the windows and have a front row seat for the evening fireworks show!

Victoria and Albert’s

If you really want to show mom how special she is, then dress up, leave the kids at home, and take mom to the fanciest table in all of Walt Disney World – Victoria and Albert’s.  This seven course dinner is sure to take mom’s breath away, and includes such decadent options as caviar, scallops, veal, or duck.  Desserts include chocolate from Tanzania or a soufflĂ© made with Grand Marnier.  To make this meal extra special, be sure to consider adding the wine pairing to your evening.  Dining here is on my mother’s Disney bucket list, and I can’t wait until the day I can take her.

With Mother’s Day a month away, there’s still time to grab some Advanced Dining Reservations and treat mom to a Magical Day!  No matter where in Walt Disney World you choose to dine, mom will be sure to appreciate being treated like royalty for the day!
