Disney Confirms New Name for ‘The Muppet Christmas Carol’ Concert Returning to the UK
Few holiday movies have managed to become quite as deeply embedded in Christmas traditions as The Muppet Christmas Carol. Brian Henson’s 1992 movie took one of Charles Dickens’ most famous stories and gave it an unmistakably Muppet twist, while Michael Caine’s decision to play Ebenezer Scrooge completely straight helped give the movie a strange combination of comedy and genuine emotion.
Its reputation has only grown with age. What began as a theatrical release has become an annual Christmas favorite, helped along by home-video releases, books, toys, collectibles, clothing, ornaments, and plenty of other merchandise.
The movie’s soundtrack has also remained an important part of its identity, with its original songs helping distinguish it from the countless other adaptations of A Christmas Carol.
Disney has even continued revisiting the movie itself. Different home releases have offered fans various versions of the film, including the return of footage that was absent from the original theatrical cut. That has helped ensure that The Muppet Christmas Carol continues to find new audiences more than 30 years after it first arrived in theaters.
But the story hasn’t remained confined to screens and shelves. The movie has also developed a life on stage, with the complete film being shown while a live orchestra performs its score. The concert experience has toured the UK several times, giving audiences the opportunity to experience the movie with its music performed live in the room.

And now, the production is returning once again in 2026. But over the years, the name has varied quite a bit between Disney and the ticket sellers. Now, Disney is advertising the production as The Muppet Christmas Carol in Concert Live to Film.
