Disney Brings Back Full Hollywood Studios Tier System With 2 Reopening Attractions

Hollywood Studios vacations are about to require even more strategy.

Disney has confirmed that two attractions will officially return to the Lightning Lane Multi Pass system beginning May 26, bringing the park back to a much fuller lineup after several months of temporary closures and updates.

The returning experiences are Rock ā€˜n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets and Disney Jr. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live!, both of which immediately rejoin their respective Lightning Lane tiers.

For many Disney fans, the bigger story is not simply that these attractions are reopening. It is what this means for reservation demand across the park.

Hollywood Studios already has a reputation for being one of the hardest Disney parks to manage efficiently. The attraction lineup is smaller than Magic Kingdom, but the rides are incredibly popular. Guests regularly deal with long waits for Slinky Dog Dash, Rise of the Resistance, Tower of Terror, and Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway almost every day of the year.

Adding another highly anticipated attraction back into the Tier 1 category could completely change Lightning Lane strategy this summer.

The Muppets version of Rock ā€˜n’ Roller Coaster is expected to draw huge crowds right away. Disney fans are naturally curious about the retheme, especially since this marks one of the biggest ride transformations currently happening at Walt Disney World.

Because Lightning Lane Multi Pass only allows guests to initially choose one Tier 1 attraction, competition may become intense very quickly.

Families booking vacations around May and June will probably notice reservations disappearing earlier than usual once the new coaster officially opens.

At the same time, Disney Jr. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live! returning to Tier 2 gives younger families another useful option inside the park. Hollywood Studios has increasingly leaned into family-focused entertainment over the past few years, and this addition helps round out the park’s offerings for guests with small children.

Still, the overall pressure on Lightning Lane is growing.

Disney’s pricing for Multi Pass at Hollywood Studios is approaching some of the highest levels the system has seen so far. That is usually a sign Disney expects very heavy attendance levels during the upcoming summer stretch.

And honestly, it makes sense.

Summer vacations are beginning, new entertainment offerings are arriving across Walt Disney World, and guests are eager to experience the updated attractions reopening throughout the resort.

For Disney visitors hoping to secure easier Lightning Lane reservations, though, the return of these two attractions may actually make Hollywood Studios far more competitive than it already was.
